    Hi Lucky

Sorry to hear about the arguing with DH. In one of those moods is he? Sounds like a mix of a week. Hope you're ok. Keep on trying with the weight loss!

It's tipping it down here. Just started as I was due to leave work for a 2 mile walk home. Still did it so proud of my self haha! Used to hate sports day as a kid. Crippling shyness kinda spoiled it!

Hugs to you and as beanie says, keep plodding!

  • Thanks everyone!

Sparky, I think DH just needed reminding that he is not the only person in the family and his needs are not the greatest. It annoys me that his Mum buys him frivolous things that he wants rather than needs, yet I struggle to make ends meet for needs. He gets my point now!

Today DS2 was at school until 12 noon but DS1 was off because of the strike. We took DS1 into town this morning to get his uniform for Middle School from John L3wis. Unfortunately we discovered that whilst they had samples in to try on for size, we actually had to order it online. I searched for online codes/cashback deals but to no avail. However, I opted for free delivery to our local W@itrose store so a few pennies saved there. £61 for 3 t-shirts and 2 jumpers . I still need the Rugby Shirt and I've already bought the cooking apron and 1 pair of trousers. No wonder I'm skint!

New people have taken over the gym from the council. Think I already whinged that it was going up from £15 per month for DH to £25, but when we went in on Wed we were told we could have it for £16.50 per month if we set up a direct debit rather than paying by card each month. It still means no contract and can be cancelled at any time so I agreed. This afternoon the 4 of us went swimming there which usually costs £1.20 (DH goes in free as part of his membership, I'm free as carer, DS2 is free as under 5 and then it's just a reduced fee for DS1). Today however they wanted £2.65 each for the boys as it's now only free for under 3s. I said how disappointed I was in the rise in prices (£5.30 is still cheap for a family swim but we could have gone almost 5 times for that before!!) and they said if I took in proof of DH's benefit again the kids could get discount cards. I asked if I could get discount today regardless as really that should have been mentioned when we signed the direct debit forms on Wednesday, so they put the kids through for £1 each :D.

  • Hey lilt, sorry started typing the last post ages ago and then Mum phoned and by the time I posted you had too!

We had horrific rain on Tuesday, real bouncing twice type rain, yet yesterday was gorgeous! I've put my order in for more sunshine until at least the end of September! Hope you didn't get too wet on your walk home. Xx

Good negotiations with the gym, Lucky!

How annoying about the uniform ordering process. When you collect it from Waitrose, don't forget to get your free newspaper and coffee or tea.

Is Aunty due to visit, that could be the reason for the weight increase, and you find it comes off next week? I've lost 4lb this week, due to a tummy bug, but I expect it'll mostly go straight back on once I can eat again.
What would you get if all you got was what you were thankful for?
  • Sorry to hear you've been poorly Satchmo, hope you feel better soon. Aunt Flo is due this time next week so it could have something to do with it! It could also explain why I've been a moody cow and feeling sorry for myself :o. Then again, that could just all be DH's fault .

Absolutely can't wait til the kids break up for summer next week. I'm also looking forward to getting DS1 back from Cub Camp on Sunday and he hasn't even left yet !!

  • DH has 2 wedding rings, one is the one we got married with which is now too big, and the other was his Dad's wedding ring which is too small. We took them both to the jewellers today to see about having at least one of them resized. They said either could be resized for £8 which I thought was a good deal. Short version of a long story is that we had his Dad's ring resized and we sold DH's ring to the jeweller for £123, meaning an overall profit of £115 :D. I agreed to DH putting some away in his 'tattoo fund', but the rest takes the pressure off us at the moment for which I'm very grateful.

DS1 is all packed and ready for Cub Camp at 6pm. I'm more nervous than him!

Just catching up with you Lucky. What a scare at the gym! Well done with the ring - great result. Know how you feel about DH thinking he is priority as this is how Mr SA behaves. What with him and your two boys you must really feel at the back of the queue. Your turn will come :). Hope DS1 has a great time at his camp.
