Hugs, Lucky, even if DH has apologised you still get a hug.

MIL is so good on so many levels, but it's all centred round her DS. That's natural and normal, but her financial help seems to be concentrated on treats rather than necessities.

Forget worrying about the £100 for DH's tattoo, what's the betting that MIL will stump up!

I've been wondering whether you are eligible for the carers money that Sun Addict has been told she's eligible for? That would get you a couple of spa days. Is it something you can investigate?

Have a look on the M&S outlet site for a reasonably priced white bra. If done via Topcashback you'll save the delivery cost. If there's a bra you like on the outlet site, you could go to your nearest M&S and try it on to check if it fits.
What would you get if all you got was what you were thankful for?

depending on your size some of the larger supermarkets sell bras as well Lucky, you may be able to get one or two to tide you over at any rate
    Must use my stash up!
  • Thank you both Satchmo and Knit witch. I'll definitely have a look at M&S for a bra, unfortunately not many supermarkets stock GiganticGanglies!!

Feeling a bit silly over my whinge before. Truth be told I wouldn't enjoy a spa day anyway, I'd be too busy worrying about everyone or fretting about the cost to enjoy it. You can't please some people!!! I promise I'll try to treat myself more when we are debt free.

I'll look at the Carers Assessment. Not sure what the criteria is Xx

So sorry that things at the moment are tough.
I echo what Buffy has said.
Don't beat yourself up, I think you cope so much better than 99% of us would cope with a difficult situation.
Don't worry about the tattoo, as someone said I'm sure your MIL will come up with the £££'s and I hope she also comes up with the £££'s for your haircut.
    Take care & keep plodding.

  • Thank you for all the kind words and support everyone. I feel a bit better tonight, though I have to admit I'm wondering if hormones are coming in to play. I'm not expecting Aunt Flo until next weekend but I feel unbalanced and psychotic like she's due :rotfl:.

Stayed in all day today. The rain was hammering down this morning so I took my frustrations out on the kitchen cupboards and gave them a good clear out. By this time DH's mate popped round to look at my car which has been making a squealing sound so I thought I needed new brake pads. He's confirmed this is the case and will get me some while he's at work tomorrow which he thinks will cost around £20-£25. He said my tyres are getting desperate so we will have to sort that tomorrow or Tuesday.

Upside is, today has been a NSD. Only the second of the month :o. I've put a couple of bras on watching on eb@y, didn't see anything suitable on the M&S outlet website. Will check figleav3s too thanks Xx

  • PLMBL if your hubby gets high rate care then you should get carers allowance. It gets taken off of ESA but opens up entitlement to another premium and would be a good wee increase to your income. Check on directgov site xx

Oh Lucky just catching up with you and sad to hear you've been having a rough time (again!!). I got the carer's assessment because Mr SA has just come out of hospital and has a carer in the day so don't know if it's just applicable to this sort of situation. It came from our county council via adult social care - worth looking into though. The social worker went through a questionnaire and you would definitely tick all of the boxes. For example one of the questions was have you had to give up anything now you're a carer.

Have you tried Primark for the bras? I find they always last just as long as more expensive ones. Have you thought of getting your hair cut at local hairdressing college or when they're training at hair salons?

You cope so well with everything that's thrown at you but I wish you didn't always put yourself last. It's about time your hubby did something nice for you but men just don't think.

Hope things pick up soon. Big hugs xx

  • MiT, I do get Carers Allowance already. SA got a Carer's Assessment which is an additional one off payment for the carer, which I believe is what Satchmo meant.

SA, thanks for that extra info. I shall look into it. Didn't think that Primark would do GG bras?!
I usually get my hair done (twice a year if I'm lucky!) by the trainee stylist at the hairdressers as it's less than half price. Unfortunately they have now fully qualified so that ship has sailed!!

Thanks Granny. MiL puts a lot of onus on looks etc, I probably don't put anywhere enough on them. I think as long as you are clean, tidy and presentable that's enough. I'm always clean ......:D

Thanks for all the much needed hugs. I'm sure I'll feel better tomorrow Xx
