  • at the tattooing!! Sounds enormous!!

Just have to say I was more than momentarily puzzled at mention of the "cold white stuff" - I was sat wondering whether white people were more susceptible to colds or if there was a specific bug going around... Then realised it was snow. I was born blonde for a reason...

  • Lol sorry to confuse you Lilt! DF(w), I hate the snow too. Great for one day while the kids build snowmen, and then it's just a nuisance. We get quite cut off being in a village and since I slipped on the ice and broke my arm 2 years ago, I'm not as confident walking in it that I once was!

Today has been gym, made homemade soup for lunch, Mr T's, housework and now DH has gone to his friend's for a couple of hours so I'm hoping for peace once the boys are in bed! Loving the fact that I'm off work tonight as I've already done my shift for this week :T

  • Been feeling rather down :(. Managed to have separate run ins with DS1, DS2 and DH in the last 24 hours . Feeling unsupported and taken for granted. Then guilty because others like KJ have much more to deal with than me.

Yesterday afternoon they all got their hair cut in town. MIL had made the appointments because apparently it was making her feel down that DH's hair was messy!!!!! She made the appointments spaced out though and I didn't fancy having to keep the boys amused in the hairdressers for several hours, so MIL took DH in first and we followed in an hour later. I was frazzled when I got there as they fought the whole way there. MIL ended up paying for all 3 haircuts which was a bit of a relief :T She said I should get myself booked in as I needed mine doing too. I said I couldn't afford it as we need car tyres. It doesn't feel great though when it's pointed out that you look a mess.

DS1 wants an xbox game. He wants to buy it with his Christmas money and doesn't see why he shouldn't. I've said no because a) he's had the game before, didn't play it very much and traded it in, losing money on the deal. He'd lose even more buying it back b) he got xbox games for Christmas that he was desperate for but has hardly played c) he wants everything his friends have. If 6 different friends have a different game each, he thinks that he should have all 6 so he can play whatever each friend is playing at the time. He never thinks about the fact that they don't all rush out to get what he has. Anyway, he had a full on toddler style melt down in the shops yesterday and cried and showed me up. He even said I prefer his little brother to him as I'd bought some food that only DS2 likes not him! This did NOT change my mind!!! I tried to explain all this to him again while he was calm last night but it started WW3. DH didn't back me up at the time (he just stayed silent) and later said he felt sorry for DS1!!!!! I've spoken to DS1 again this morning, hopefully I've got through to him.

2am this morning and DS2 wakes up thinking it's time to get up. I go in his room to talk to him and he screams at me that he wants his Daddy not me. How lovely.

This morning I tried to tell DH I felt down and he didn't react well. Made me feel like I was inconveniencing him and he didn't like it when I pointed out that I'm always there for him whichever mood he's in. He's barely spoken to me all day.

Anyone got a spare rock I can hide under? Xx

  • Aaaw PLMBL, BIG HUGS to you :).

We all have days like this that feel like a total battle with everyone. I am having similar with my DS with the XBOX. He only got it for Christmas, but has made online friends with a lot of his school mates. They all have lots of games and he wants to join them. I am quite shocked how many have that Grand Theft Auto which is an 18 and most of his friends are 9 . Anyway, we have lots of battles about that so you are definitely not on your own.

Your hubby definitely should have backed you up and listened to you, especially as you are ALWAYS supporting him. MEN!! My hubby is very similar, not very good at being sympathetic but expects a whole bunch of it if he is struggling.

Keep smiling hun, take yourself off to have a long bath and read of a book or something for yourself.

My children have homework to do today, so queue the aggro I am going to have trying to get them to settle down and do it
  • I am NOT giving you a rock to hide under.

You should not be under a rock.

Your DH is ill, it's bloody awful on so many levels Lucky, but I think the worst bit is you do so much of the parenting(as well as everything else), you have to be the bad cop and I wonder if reading between the lines sometimes DH is so out of it he doesn't know/remember what DS1 and DS2 have done.

Really, all your reasons for not having the game are good valid reasons. You aren't wrong in my opinion. Letting a child have everything they want just creates an ungrateful monster. you are doing the right thing.

And as for your MIL..........hmmmm. do she not understand the concept of no money. And sod off with the haircut comment!

I really do think she is out of order. No offence but if your OH can have a bloody tattoo and you are standing there without a haircut so you can buy tyres for the car doesn't she see what you are dealing with????????

No rocks, just loads of hugs. You aren't going mad you aren't a bad person not by a long long long way.

    Love Buffy xxx
    Nevertheless she persisted.
  • Thanks Steph, glad I'm not the only one (but not that you are going through it too IYSWIM!). We also have homework today because no one ever listens when I say you should do it on a Friday then it's done!

I do appreciate that DH has been told off before about getting too angry with the boys so that's perhaps why he left me to it, but it hurt that it's normally him saying they get away with too much and then when I punish them I'm the bad one Xx

  • Cheers Buffy. I've just been tying myself in knots because I'm trying to keep everyone happy and seemingly achieving nothing. Trying to find the £100 for DH's tattoo and at the same time wearing nothing white because my white bra can't be fixed this time (having sewed it 4 times already ). I don't want to be a martyr, I just want to be appreciated and not be made to feel like I don't matter.

If I'm honest, I also keep thinking that the twins would be due soon which probably doesn't help my mood Xx

  • DH has just apologised. It's been hours and then the minute I rant on here he says sorry! Do we think he reads my diary or just another coincidence to make me feel guilty :rotfl: Xx
