Don't let a mean minded punishing state that threatens to deprive you of income interfere with well thought out romantic decisions.
People on benefits are entitled to love lives don't let ANYONE else or ANYTHING else tell you otherwise.
The poor get micromanaged by the State in an effort to punish them for the wrongdoings and poverty making actions of multinational corporations whose neocon and neoliberal actions make us poor not being on benefits cos it's our own only option.

Oh, it's not because you can't be ar5ed to get a job, then?

Take your own legal but well thought path.
Two people on benefits who decide to live together!
    That's what people DO.
So !!!! those who think it's some sort of scandal that we have love lives!
I don't think anyone thinks it's a scandal for those on benefits to have a love life. But it is ridiculous that a couple who want to live together stay apart because they don't want to share their money with each other and prefer to keep everything separate and keep state benefits.

Indeed. What's your solution? Could always imply those you disagree with you are a bit inadequate, I'm sure that work...let's see...

What has that got to do with the correlation of the UK having the highest number of single parents and the most generous welfare system for single mothers?

And got tax allowances for supporting a family.

If you think the French system is so good, then move there under the EEA freedom of worker treaty rights. I think you might get a shock on how much taxes you will have to pay especially towards their health system. Or you can just keep on moaning about stepfathers having to pay for their stepchildren in the UK. Does your OH know how you feel about her children?
RENTING? Have you checked to see that your landlord has permission from their mortgage lender to rent the property? If not, you could be thrown out with very little notice.

I have been here long enough to recognise the old MSE way of using thread to start mini arguments about benefits rather than plain old advice and non judgmental counsel.

It's Sparklebabey actually...maybe the lack of reading skills is an issue?

Anyway, whilst I don't think you are drunk I do think you have some serious 'issues' so I will leave well alone.

If the State thought it could keep you apart and it has NO RIGHT TO DO SO then we can have the myth that all on benefits are breeding mothers who don't give a !!!! about their children.
All the best I probably won't get thanked for my posts but above is reason I am on Urban 75, Benefits and Work, will get Welfare Rights Advisor help and lurk on here.
The state isn't keeping them apart, they're choosing to stay apart because they don't want to have a partnership where they share all income. The OP wants to keep her benefits and the OP's partner wants to keep his wages when really what they should be doing is putting all money into one pot and living like a couple instead of two separate financial people.

  • @OP Follow what Auntie Wouldbe's advice.
YOU NEED TO KNOW AS MUCH ABOUT THE BENEFITS SYSTEM AS POSSIBLE.
    IT IS UNJUST UNFAIR COMPLEX.

Out of interest, how much do you receive from the unjust unfair system? I often find that those who criticise the system most loudly are also those that take the most from it.

Rubbish - it doesn't amount to the same thing at all. There is nothing extra in tax credits anyone can claim if a partner earning over £18k moves in with a single parent. Tax credits are cut, and there is no reduction in income tax or NI payable at all.

In France in the same situation a man moving in with his partner with 3 kids would get his tax allowance quadrupled, plus his tax bands, to reflect he is now supporting 5 people. Meaning a very large cut in tax as some compensation for taking on the financial support of a family.

But, to be fair, it's not that great being a single parent in France in terms of tax and welfare.

You can make a political point from that (not the point I'd personally make) in that France has a much smaller proportion of single parents.

What you are facing I have to face some living together time and I don't give a !!!! about benefits bashers who seem to think I/we are not entitled to love lives.
They can go !!!! themselves for all I care.

You're actually in danger of trolling this thread now. You've garbled your piece. Time to give it a rest, love.
