I am too confused with my tax return. For fee only jobs that you don't have to spend anything, all gets taken as profit.
But for jobs where there is for example a 50% fee, 50% reimbursement and you have to buy something - a meal, toy, ticket, do you count the whole amount as your profit or just the fee?
For example gap burgers, do I take the full amount that goes into my bank as taxable or just half, the fee part.
this is really stressful, ggrrr, don't want to go to jail! This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

for fee and reimbursement- take total fee and if you spend more than the reimbursement it's tough- like the pub job where need to take 2 people but it only covers food and drink for one
although I think everyone has a different opinion on this
also remember to take off petrol, phone calls, allowance for using a room in the house etc from the yearly profit0 -
Loved the car wash. So much so I am taking the kids with me tomorrow. Wooohooo!

Yep you can only take off what you 'have to buy'.
So for said pub visit you can claim expenses for one person.
For reimbursement only visits you are doing it for the item rather than a fee, so I put the reimbursement down as income.
For reimbursement + fee visits. If say the fee was £5 and the reimbursement was £20. It is difficult to say you are doing it for the fee since you are getting an item for 20 quid for free. So I usually put the full £25 as income and only claim travel expenses.0 -

I comment in each box, they don't need much as the results are mostly condensed into an over all score.0 -

Surely reimbursements don't count as income, even if it is reimbursement only?0

Only where they ask for them. If they didnt indicate a comment was needed at the briefing stage they'll pay me extra for them. I don't do favours for MS companies anymore, they only burn you back.Surely reimbursements don't count as income, even if it is reimbursement only?
Benefit in kind, like how a car or clothing allowance is taxable. But it is a grey area, depends of the level of fee and level of reimbursement. This was 6 months out of date so I've changed it.:j:j:j:j0 -
