I agree with the above posters. You shouldn't have rung them on their personal number especially given they'd told you to delete the number.

What you did was worse than the sales calls I get to my TPS-registered landline - and you should hear the abuse I give them! I'd say you got off lightly.

Totally agree, you are one of the more vocal people on the board, yet you breached a huge trust and should be sacked. The funny thing is you are still quite happy to do the quick shops for free food!!!

Mimi, thank you for your message! I hadn't been on today so hadn't seen 'phone-gate'.
Just to be clear, I was obviously competely joking about ever posting her number.

I'm not going to get into an argument or anything. As I did say when I said about having her number, yes I should have deleted it, and was completely honest about choosing not to, as sometimes it is nice to know that there is a number for contact, just in case. for the record, I did delete it after that phone call, as the purpose for having kept it before - as an emergency contact just in case it was ever needed - was not really applicable, as actually it didn't help.
I understand what you are saying, and using NIMs example of when his partner received several calls which amounted to being harassing, however I don't really think this situation is completely comparable.

If a customer where I work somehow, regardless of by what means, had my personal number and called me about something work related, I'm not saying I wouldn't be a bit miffed or annoyed, but I would never have spoken to them like that as regardless of the time/day etc, I would not have spoken to them like that, particularly if they were immediately as apologetic as I was about bothering them.

I don't telephone anyone... I send emails which I keep copies of or screen shots and if they don't reply I wait til they call me. Sometimes certain companies will call and say why haven't you blah blah and I reply I emailed and can email a copy or now you have phoned me this is the situation. I've had payment queries and bad jobs but I still email and let them call me. If they don't read emails every day then that's their problem not mine. If I had a situation where I needed a question answered dependant on the job i wouldnt contact anyone, i would email and I wouldn't do the job and then tell them when they phoned me why I couldn't do the job and if they didn't like it then tough! Just as many companies out there for me as there is shoppers for them.

Explain the situation and offer to do it again. Most companies have a longer period of closure than you think :D

I've always found them fairly friendly when they've phoned, so they might be more understanding than you're worrying about.
Sounds like you've had a busy day, bet you could really do with that pizza now!

Had to drop a load of work the last few days, prob gonna loose a fair few quid from TNS who want receipts resubmitting. Been in newcastles freeman since wednesday. Turns out baby N.I.M needs half her left lung removing and its being done tomorrow. Bloomin petrified as she's less than 2 kilos and the first q the surgeon asked the doc was if it could wait till she's bigger. Apparently not so she's having her upper left lobe removed tomorrow at round 10am.

Have said this to TNS and I'm being told we can't hold this off for long. Can't believe it. Naturally they'll be getting dropped after this. But in fairness the guy I've been dealing with has been good. Just has his hands tied by the higher-ups.
This was 6 months out of date so I've changed it.

    !!!!!! TNS

Needed to speak to someone urgently about a bank interview job today, and they are a nightmare to try and get on the phone at the best of times, let alone on a Saturday morning. Which is fair enough, most are hard to speak to at the weekend. But I do have 1 mobile number for a different person, who had given me her mobile number when I was helping her out with some urgent bits once before over a bank holiday weekend. So that was my only avenue to try really. Waited till just now so it wasn't too early, and when she answered I was really apologetic for bothering her, explained that I really needed to get hold of the other person and briefly what it was in regards to - and she was rude as hell and just said "Well it's the weekend, this is a private number. Who do you think you are..?" and hung up.

Ummm, very glad I made a point of not actually saying who I was! I know she was right in a way, but my god, to be so rude, when actually I'm trying to help their company. The person I was trying to get hold of has phoned me several times this week to confirm various things, then emailed me to ask to confirm the same things in writing. And said she would email me with a contact number for her out of hours (this was when she phoned me on my mobile yesterday afternoon.) By the time I got home at just gone 6pm to check my emails, surprise surprise No contact number emailed, and no way of asking. I've tried emailing her of course in case she checks them out of hours, but nothing.
    Not even a chimp :(

I think your experience with TNS just about sums up their attitude to us assessors.

It's absolutely fine for them to mess us about, email us anonymously, ring us repeatedly about jobs that they want covering ..... But, we have no reliable means of contacting them. I have been told, several times, that emails don't necessarily get looked at first thing on a weekday morning, even if they have "URGENT" in the subject line. There is obviously no chance, then, of attracting their attention over a weekend! We are not "allowed" to telephone, even if we happen to have a contact number that TNS have used to ring us in the past!

Their systems are unreliable as well: why the hell do they email me offering work when they haven't updated the jobs to allow selection of the dates they want covered?? It's obviously OK with them that I waste my time. Well, it's definitely not OK with me.

I have worked for TNS for many years, but I have now had enough of TNS treating me so rudely and inefficiently. They certainly do not score highly for "customer service," and they have dropped off the bottom of my list of companies that I am happy to work for.

    Rant over!

I had a right mess last week.

Lost 2 out of 3 jobs I should be completing due to errors on their part.

Pointed out tI had spent most of the day send/recieving emails and I'm positive I was talking to two different people but couldn't tell since they never signed their name.

I explained all this could have been sorted in a 2 min call. He wined about having it all done in black and white so it's traced and I said that was very well but clearly wasn't working in this case and it's very hard to trace from my end when knowbody signs an email with their name.

He blabbed something else and I did point out that of the 40 plus companies I work for, I can contact every one of them (and in most cases ask for somebody by name) on the phone bar theirs, so clearly the idea of having a telephone line wasn't that appauling.
I get what i want. That isn't because i'm a brat or spoilt. It's because i'm determined, i work hard for it and i achieve my goals!
