Has anybody tried adding vinegar to their car windscreen washer tank??
I read on one of the posts that it is great on glas if used with newspaper, but is it any good with a rubber wipr blade clearing the windscreen??0 -
i may have missed it but is there a recipe for a general kitchen worksurface cleaner using vinegar? ???0
-
I use half vinegar half water with a tea spoon of bicarb in it for good luck for cleaning all my kitchen surfaces and neat vinegar on any greasy bits like the cooker hood and oven door0

i would be very vary of one using vinegar on a car. It may be fine to just spray on windows for polishing, but remember vinegar is an acid..acetic acid. A car i smade of metal, so a cause of corrosion.
I have read on some websites that people use vinegar to remove the wax on car bodies...why? For that wax coating is protecting the outer surface of your car from fine scratches etc. I paid over £100 for my car to be supergarded (waxed) professionally.0 -
i wouldnt use vinegar on my car either but i use it on the windscreen and in the washer bottle
also you need to take that wax off occasionally with t cut so i imagine that vinegar would do it jsut as well0 -
Cathy,
What ratio of vinegar/water do you use in your washer bottle?
Does it have any abnormal effect on your wiper blades?0 -
nope doesnt seem to have any effect, I use the drop of washing up liquid a half mug of vinegar and the rest water
in winter it stops your windscreen freezing up if you give it a squirt of neat vinegar then wipe the wipers across a couple times before you lock the car for bed0 -
Since reading all the tips on this board, I am pleased to tell you all that I have turned into Miss "Vinegar for Everything"! These are the things I did yesterday by way of my vinegar conversion:
1. Scrubbed limescale off bathroom tiles with neat white vinegar - very little elbow grease needed and they now shine brilliantly (kept nipping back into the bathroom to look at my handiwork - amazing!);
2. Poured bicarb with vinegar down the bath outlet to cut through the soap scum build up - noticeable improvement and so will keep doing this once a week;
3. Poured a cup of vinegar into the washing machine drum and put it on a cycle (with no clothes inside) - much cheaper than shop-bought descaler and the drum smelled fresh afterwards; and best of all
4. Used neat vinegar to scrub off all the greasy bits around the cooker e.g. tiles, electric switches - worked a dream. Grease globlets came off with just a little bit of elbow grease!
Indeed, vinegar for every cleaning needs. One very happy convert - evangelism is optional ... ;D ;D ;D0 -
Our cat is always fishing in our pond, so my son dipped some used teabags in vinegar and put them around the edge of the pond. The cat hates the vinegar.Bulletproof0
