For a large group booking, I would imagine that at least a deposit was asked for.

There was no mention of a deposit being paid by the OP.

Personally I prefer to deal with the facts presented and not just make stuff up!

Besides this thread is dead now, the OP has found another forum to post on so it seems pointless still going on about it.

Had op lost money in the process i'm fairly certain it would have been mentioned in the original post.

    On top of a drink/meal/hotel/taxi?

And how does that compensate for the "loss of enjoyment?"
The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark

I would write to them setting out exactly what happened & what inconvenience they caused you. Yes they did help by sorting out another hotel for you but to be honest that's the least you would expect.

It's unlikely that they will offer you monetary compensation, although I would be fuming if I was you and would have kicked up a huge fuss, but you may be able to get them to offer something like a free night for you and your friends or OH or some sort of spa package.
