Hotel problems

But they haven't paid anything to the hotel as they didn't stay there
I assumed that the money they paid to the hotel a year ago has stayed in the hotel and the hotel arranged the booking for the other place and paid them. Is this correct OP - did you pay the other hotel at all or was it all arranged by the first hotel ?0 -
I think as the OP has just posted Deleting profile? they might not be coming back...0

Yeah that's possible but I assumed like most hotels they had just booked a room without paying up frontThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
So they booked you into another local hotel, and you spent most of the night getting there... did you crawl?

Just want to say yes I did ask about deleting the profile but that's because Ive been told of a site more suitable so don't need this one. Also want to apologise to goater78. sorry for being a cow, what I said what uncalled for and petty. Just I was new and felt a bit threatened by what was said. I'm actually not a nasty person in the slightest. I'm really struggling to explain the whole hotel situation properly so hopefully new site will be better x0

I think being given alternative accommodation of, I trust, a similar standard (there is nothing to say otherwise), plus all the incidental costs of getting there plus a free meal is about as good a deal as the OP coule expect.0

I may be wrong but i doubt the new hotel was of the same standards, otherwise the first hotel likely wouldnt have offered use of its facilities.
Thats why people are asking what the OP is seeking. So we can advise how to go about it and whether perhaps they're maybe setting their sights too high (like a full refund is too high).
I have to say though, although not impressed with their over booking in the first place, a lot of other hotels would have simply issued a refund and that would be it. They'd leave the customer not only to find their own substitute hotel but also to find their own way there too.
But if the hotels were not like for like and the OP genuinely did lose a large portion of their holiday waiting for this to be sorted out etc.....then imo they're entitled to a partial refund. You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0 -
Souns like a total braech of contract to me bt accepting the alternative hotel was possibly a mistake. But you would then have to go via the courts an without some researh in to case law who knows how this would pan out.
If it was me I woul be slating the hotel on every forum I could find (eg trip advisor).
I also get goater, you accepted their offer of alternative accomodation, taxis, meals etc.
Just draw a line under it. It will at least give yo a laugh in the future. If nothing goes wrong at a weding nobody remembers them anyway. A few good disasters will have folk talking about it for years....:)0 -

For a large group booking, I would imagine that at least a deposit was asked for.The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0 -

Then I suggest you read the OP's posts again. The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0
