Hotel problems

Hi, will keep the as short as possible. About a year my cousin booked 14 of us into our local village hotel for my hen weekend which happened this weekend. Last week she rang the hotel to confirm the booking and to double check the prices etc. The hotel said all was ok and she was even given the room numbers in which we would be staying. We arrived at the hotel on Saturday and was told we couldn't check in yet and to wait in the bar. 10 minutes later the duty manager came over and told us they had over booked and we couldn't stay in the hotel. We told them how long it had been booked and how it had been confirmed the week before but we was given no explanation for it. They wasn't interested in helping us but eventually agreed to get us into another local hotel. They offered to let us use their facilities (pool, gym etc) still but as we had to mess around moving hotels we didn't have no time to. The also offered to pay for the taxi to take us to the other hotel and also a free meal in the evening and a free drink.
Anyway, I wanting opinions to if this is good enough from the hotel? It was booked for my hen weekend and it was spoilt by the whole situation. I only plan on having one hen weekend in my life and it was ruined as we could not do what was planned and spent most of the time travelling between hotels. Thank you

Had you told the hotel it was a hen party booking? A lot of hotels don't accept same sex groups.

We went out for dinner for my hen night. Admittedly, it was 26 years ago... things have changed a bit.

Yes they were fully aware. They even do some packages on their spa aimed at hen parties so they do take them. We also saw another hen party in there.

what more do you want? Sounds like they paid for the cab(at least 3 cabs) to the other hotel, gave all 14 of you a free drink and let all 14 of you have a free meal. That sounds reasonable really?

Does a meal compensate for the fact we had it booked for a year and they decided on the day they had double booked and ruined a whole weekend

So what do you want from them? If a free meal and drink for 14 people isn't acceptable what do you want as well?

You are obviously a bit simple minded and do not understand the post so I suggest you don't answer at all

I don't think she does not understand your post. If you are intending to send in a complaint then you will need to outline exactly how you expect them to rectifiy the situation. You won't get anywhere if you write in without actually explaining what you expect them to do.

So what do you expect them to do. What compensation are you wanting?

How much to-ing and fro-ing did you have to do?

How far apart were the two hotels?

As already asked, what do you WANT from this situation?

You've asked for opinions of what the hotel should have done, people have told you the meal and drinks and free taxis was good, and your response is to call them simple minded. Nice.
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

Most of the day traveling between hotels? Was the second hotel in a different city or something?

If anything, it should have set you back an hour or so - so not sure why that "ruined" the night

Original OP: in case op removes it
