Brand new kitten sick on Royal Canin

Little and often would be best I think.
I would feed small meals regularly instead of just leaving food out. That way you can see who is eating what and how much.
They're beautiful, best of luck0 -

Very good advice. If you dramatically change a kitten's diet too dramatically you will upset their tummies. Change it slowly and gradually. Then I think you will find they are fine. Royal Canin is good stuff but can be a bit rich if they have been used to Felix and Go Cat.0 -
Thank you for the advice. Unfortunately all the shops were shut when we got them home so we didn't manage to transition them gradually
The girl is absolutely fine, pooing away normally and munch munch munch.
I will try putting the dry down for them tomorrow at intervals rather than leaving it. Got a free health check with the vet tomorrow too so hopefully they'll be able to see if they're ok.
He was sick in the night again last night. Going to see what happens on NO wet food for 36 hours and see if he is still sick on just dried. If so I'll half and half him with GoCat for a week and see if he improves.
I don't know what his natural healthy personality is yet, he is sometimes a bit quiet and sad but then will purr straight away as soon as you touch him... attention seeker maybe!?0 -

It sounds like this is very timely.marvellousaunt wrote: »He was sick in the night again last night.
This is a concern, if he is still being sick.marvellousaunt wrote: »I don't know what his natural healthy personality is yet, he is sometimes a bit quiet and sad but then will purr straight away as soon as you touch him... attention seeker maybe!?
Cat's naturally will hid the fact they are ill, hence the fact that he purrs when you touch him. Hope your boy is feeling better soon.0 -
REALLY hope he isn't sick in the night again... really starting to worry now
To further complicate matters, the stupid idiot has hurt his paw somehow this morning! He'll let you touch it and feel all the way up without miaowing, his pad is intact and not cut or anything, and he puts some weight on it, but he'll hold it up while sitting and limp while walking, and periodically mew and all the while look VERY pathetic and sorry for himself.
Why is it always the boys!
Assuming it's just a sprain as it's not swollen but glad the vets is tomorrow. I don't need to take him sooner do I? He better not cost me a fortune the first week I've got him!0 -
Have they been wormed recently?0

Have they been wormed recently?
The previous owners said they had wormed them with what looked like a cream. I don't think it was tablets - I can't recall the name but I could ask them again.
I *think* he is a little bit runty, he's smaller than his sister and not as active, she's very bossy and he's a bit more timid... not used to that in boy cats...!0 -

Keep him quiet over night to save his strength. Have you got a pen or carrier you can put him in?marvellousaunt wrote: »To further complicate matters, the stupid idiot has hurt his paw somehow this morning!
More reason to keep him quiet, to save him running on the paw. It's more than likely he has jumped off something and hurt it. I had a kitten do this last summer, I took her to the vet who said to keep her from running around, so I penned her. Vet didn't even charge me.0
