  • Morning everyone - so glad the weather has held out for the marathon. Amonite, welcome, I was flung into such chaos last October, due to a kitchen refit, plus rewire, amongst all the other clutter that i did not see. The rewire left masses of dust all over the place and i could barely move from crying, i just did not know where to start. the saying on here, little and often, does ring true with me and I have nearly organised my place (apart from a big wardrobe of rubbish and a large cupboard in the sittingroom, plus under the stairs, but i can see light at the end of the tunnel . I use the box method and its great to run around a room, filling the box, you can then tidy in no time, but need to remember to clear the box out. What i have found is even if it gets really untidy, the bits that are organised, are so easy to tidy. Like someone else said, if you can then keep on top of the bits that you have done, it makes it easier. Good luck, you will get lots of advice on here.

    Good Morning

I don't think I've posted this week but I have been reading and flying (to my own list as usual). I can't remember who's done what but I think somebody got a new job, so well done on that :)

Went to the local St. George's Day fete yesterday and won some bubble bath, shower gel and a bottle of wine on tombolas and then DH won a tenner on the lottery last night. Surprising how little things can cheer you up :) Was fun watching youngsters being Mummers and listening to the brass band. The smell of bacon butties was cruel but I resisted and we walked the (very) long way home instead of the direct route. Alas my feet are stiff today, they don't seem to bend at all, but I still managed a walk. Took forever though.

The meat is in the oven, DH is watching Super Bikes (I was looking for a yawney smiley but couldn't see one). Just got the washing back in because it's clouding up and most of it is dry and put away.

Hope everyone's OK, I wish I could remember more of what went on last week.....

I have the classic problem of "not having enough time", so because I can't put things away in their correct place properly (because I only have 10 mins and need 30), I don't do it. Then it mounts up.

Welcome my tip would be you need to change this to make things easier for yourself. Today put everything away that you use/get out and a few of the things which are waiting to go away. From now on always put things back after using them and chip away at the remainder.

Serena always did a great guide on this. I do miss her posts. I wonder if I can find one of her old posts to quote? Toots always did great ones as well.

I miss them too. Serena is sometimes on twitter (but I don't think you tweet). I still miss Soapie too (also on twitter but more often on fb). It's never been the same since our lovely Toots stop posting.

    Bedding on the line
Second wash about to be put out and on the maiden
    Cricket runs done
    Morrisons shop done

A tad worse for wear today (no sympathy deserved) so may crash and burn early. Plan is either an hour in the garden or an hour doing DS1's room before he returns - weather dependant. Tonight I must iron.

I don't tweet but I do read. I have never found you though.

Ammonite, one of the things that helped me was to do a before and after photo of the really grim bits so I could see the difference I had made.

It always helps if I know someone else is suffering, so if you want to name a room, any room, then I will happily do an hour on the same room.

Since posting I have put the WM on, made breakfast for DH, been for my first run in years :jand cleaned out the hens.

    hello all

    see you'vementioned me...

ah Serena - she reclaimed her bedroom which was an ace dumping ground IIRC

and ammonite WELCOME! as has been said

    dot-to-dot method (pat. pending AnW'smum)
clear one area (ie a chest of drawers top) and keep it clear. Then clear another area - and keep that clear - eventually the dots will join.

don't put it down - fatal - put it it away. This helps if you have homes for everything - well you will eventually

another classic tip is to have a refuge - if it's really bad then get one room clean - the lounge or your bedroom's a good start - then you have a constant remider of the peace you seek and will, one day soon, have.

Photos are good, too - ta hex

Anyway - off to meet a complete stranger and mutter the code 'Alton Towers ticket' (like Spooks :rotfl:)... DS is having hers for sat and she's having his for sunday! Found a reuqested swap on e bay!

    Afternoon flyers,

    this morning I've:
    • WM on and clothes on airer (it's never really stopped drizzling here yet today)
    • Clothes from yesterday folded and put away
    • breakfast, showered, dressed and church
    • Mr A - can't tell you how much I hate that place
    • dinner made - full works, even made a rhubarb crumble which I promptly dropped lifting it out of the oven - you wouldn't believe how far boiling hot rhubarb can fly:mad:
    • DW on
    • Kitchen floor cleaned, swept and mopped (rhubarb!!!)
sitting with a nice cuppa now but we're going to the gym about 5.

:eek:I've just realised, when I was reading back through this, I HAVEN'T DONE ANY SHREDDING:eek: - off to do 10 bits now then an hour os so R&R.

    take care

    gtx

PS - DH finished the fiddly bit, like he promised:)

    That went well
DS and his mate now have Alton Towers tickets (courtesy of the Sun) they can use and a lady who lives not far from mummyoffive has some she can use and no cash changed hands!

then I came home and SUDDENLY REALISED I HAD COMPLETELY FORGOTTEN TO RENEW MY CAR INSURANCE

Fortunately it runs out tonight and we have the internet.

    Sorted.

Irritatingly though when I clicked on the lowest quote through Quidco the price went up when I got to the insurer so I have ended up going with last years (again) as I cannot get it down any further even with cashback.

    Dinner munched.
