Kaz, just tell your DD it's a no to the sleepover this time but maybe you could offer to have a sleepover in the near future with this new friend at yours? just to see if the friendship pans out/ and get to know her a little bit. Tbh my area is notorious (it's changing now) so area doesn't mean anything really.
and I'm shocked that you do the basket thing too, I thought I was the only nutter
I'm so relieved
Just finished work, put the last load in the WM and made a brew.
I'm thinking burgers for tea tonight *rubs chins* and on the subject of AF, mine are starting to become early too, not every month but every so often and sometimes when I'm mega stressed *shrugs* anyhoo it's a flamin' nuisance and I wish it would do one altogether.
and before I forget....AGAIN!.... congrats on the new job to mumto5 woohoo :j0 -
I think that going to the party BUT you picking her up is an excellent compromise.kazmeister wrote: »I am compromising by allowing her to go to the party. I can pick her up and despite her saying she wont touch anything she may give in to peer pressure (as everyone else is sleeping over I keep getting told) and at least I can keep an eye on her during the night should I need to. Am I being unreasonable?
My B-I-L (the one who has four kids) would never let his sleepover unless he KNEW the family had smoke alarms - his argument being he had them. You've not met the parents; you don't really know the girl, that would be enough for me to say no.
Been to town, bought birthday cards and dropped off some stuff to CS *fling* that's either failed to sell on fleabay or I can't see the point of listing. Saw a thread on here somewhere about lightbulbs and this reminded me to get the spare, leftover spotlight bulbs I had but not longer have fittings for (kitchen) so took them to CS too!
Also been to see if these shoes fit. And they do:o:(

Phew I am shattered and I've only been cleaning the fridge out! Everything out including the far too many bottles and jars in the door and a few of DH's 'oh you cant throw that away' bottles have been flung while he is not looking. All fridge stuff from shopping now put neatly away in their little labelled boxes
. More washing has done the rounds and been relocated.
Thanks for the advice re DD. I know the area doesnt mean that her friend and family arent nice people but both DH and I have been many times to the area and seen the types of thing that get taken into hospital, we just dont want to take the risk of our daughter being one of them. I'm also not saying she cant be friends with the girl for where she lives, she has to make the decision on her own about her friends upon what she knows of them and what they are like. She has currently gone into town (without telling us where she was going - rolls eyes smiley) so hopefully she will be in a better mood when she comes back.
Tonight will be just me for tea again, then BGT but without my glass of white. Would also like to do a batch cook of curry and chilli (but actually dont know if theres room in the freezer) as want to use some bits up before they get to chuck stage.
My feet hurt now too.
Time for a cuppa once I have relocated the toiletries from the shopping bags.

You're NOT helping! They are same price on the web, too. I just thought I'd go and look. But I haven't bought them because Clarks, of course, is a Quidco merchant. Kazmeister - I agree with everything that's already been posted about your DD and the party/sleepover. I have a 16yo daughter and we still have the 'you're so unreasonable , everyone else can' arguments. My usual response is that 'I'm your mother, not your friend so my first priority is your health and well being, if that makes you happy - great, if it doesn't - tough'. Oh, and I was the kid that parents wouldn't have wanted you to play with, which means there isn't a lie I haven't told etc so she gets away with nothing!!! Sometimes I even feel sorry for her;) DS on the other hand is so easy going he never even bothers and just says to his mates 'no point - mam won't let me' - I just want them to have a better start than I did, they know my history, I never lied to them about it (it's more down to good luck than good management that I wasn't a 15yo mum or dead!), so on good days they understand where I'm coming from and why I have such strict boundaries - my mam was never bothered as long as the police didn't come to the door - what would the neighbours think!. You will get there, it just takes time, patience and a glass of wine!
DS's room sorted - mam came to visit and ended up helping, so between the 3 of us it only took a couple of hours. DS is now at his warhammer thing.
DD and DH are just over half way with her floor - our bedroom looks like a bomb went off as it's full of the things from DD's room, so we'll have to sort that before we can go to bed tonight - DD's bed will have to be rebuilt or she'll be on the sofa:D
hope everyone is well - the AF posts are making me smile as she no longer visits me, mind, I don't half suffer when she visits DD:rotfl:
take care

I forgot to [STRIKE]boast[/STRIKE] post that I've done more gardening on the border. Often it's rock hard (summer) so undiggable. I have cleared out almost all the Valerian now, have brought some cowslips round from the back garden and planted a new geranium and tickled the surface. It appears NDN (it's between our drives) has been emptying her pots there, as the soil seems to be improving. I think she's putting it on her bit, but as she's uphill I appear to be benefitting:D
So bit-by-bit it's improving. With any luck there's room for the pretty white plant to spread and also the african daisy plant. I don't know what they are exactly but they're nice:cool:
And a parcel I posted on Thursday has been delivered so VERY good feedback!Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily Dickinson

Cucumbers planted :j Mr A shop done. Dog EVENTUALLY walked by DS & DD2. I am shattered now so having a cuppa. I am tempted to have HHpower nap upstairs before I do some paperwork. I would ask if anyone wants to join me, but it sounds wrong! :rotfl:
DD1 text me to ask what would I think if she bought herself an iPad. My thoughts were - don't ask me for money if you want to get a flat!! She assures me that when her loan comes through (student loan), she has enough for her rent this term, and enough to put by for rent over the summer as she & her BF want to get a flat now for next year. I don't know why she asks if she has already decided!0 -
Evening All
Doing okay, some jobs done. Not as many as I would have liked but the grooming is done and that I have been putting off for a couple of weeks
Wow, that's some groom! What sort of dog do you have?:o
LameWolf - We have a shih tzu which shouldn't be such a task, but he has hip and elbox dysplasia which means he gets tired of standing up quickly and various other health issues. Not only is he tired but because he doesn't like being messed about he gets snappy and it just takes forever. Quickest ever today though - 2.5 hours :j
Small victories today. Not sure how many more I will achieve as I am so tired but have no plans tomorrow so will crack on again then.
Friday – Choose a room which never gets much attention
Maybe snug, kids bedroom, spare room, conservatory
Level 1
HH putting all the stuff away and rehoming items to other rooms
Level 2
Hoover or mop the floor
Change any beds not done
Wipe all dusty areas with a damp cloth
Level 3
HH Me time before the weekend
Catch up on phone calls you should have made
Hoover and S&S anywhere in need before the weekend
Also, I need to:
1.HHI x 3 (missed 2 days + todays allocation) 1 down
[STRIKE]2. Get passport forms for DS1
3. Park before it rains!
4. Groom the dog - a 3 hour job :eek::eek:
5. WM
6. TD
[/STRIKE]7. Clear airer
8. Fold and out away TD
9. Clear off dining table
[STRIKE]10. Trying to deal with a 5 year old who has suddenly decided to come home from school using foul language :mad:.
Already done 3 bursts of time out by 7am. Don't know who has taught him it but I'm not having it in my home.:mad:
[/STRIKE] - after 6 goes on time out and confiscation of toys, I think we are getting there!
Thanks to Valli and greenbee for the suggestions on the phone calls- I definitely need to put them into practice!
Kazmeister - I'm with you - party no sleepover until you have met the parents and are comfortable.
See you all tomorrow!

Thanks again - she seems as if she has accepted it now. She's had a couple of hours on her own in town with a friend who's also going tonight (who is sleeping over) and she must have eased the situation as she is the one who usually cant do anything.
Claire - I have a Shih-Tzu too. Does yours have really long hair? I only have Sox trimmed about every 6 months so she can get a bit matted in between if I dont keep on top of it. Fabulous dogs and very easy to spoil them
Well I havent achieved very much since last post as I did spend a loooong time looking out the window for DD as she had gone out without her phone so I wasnt 100% sure that she had gone into town. Plan now is to help her get ready to go out, take her and how ever many else need a lift and then come back via either Mr T or Mr M as I have decided I am making white chocolate and cranberry fudge and I need white choc and cranberries! Then its BGT and I can do some jobs in the living room at the same time.Mortgage, we're getting there with the end in sight £6587 07/23, otherwise free of the debt thanks to MSE help!0 -
