Morning all. I haven't managed anything from the lists this week and promise to get back into swing of things next week as all back to normal routine in this house. Today, I need to eat, bath, finish off some bits and pieces of paperwork, sort out a load of washing and walk the dogs. Vacuum will go round the living room as usual, and I may then, time permitting, take a look at the lists to see if I feel inspired to do anything else! Have a great Sunday everyone.Spend less now, work less later.0

Dear everyone,
My name is ammonite and I am untidy. Not "life of grime" untidy, but untidy enough to drive my husband mad. He now laughs if I say I'm going to tidy and claims I've been tidying for three years and it rarely looks any better.
I have no problem with cleaning, I just can't clean properly due to untidiness. Tidying takes all of my time up and then I have none left for cleaning.
I have the classic problem of "not having enough time", so because I can't put things away in their correct place properly (because I only have 10 mins and need 30), I don't do it. Then it mounts up.
The little bits and bobs that don't have a proper home always flummox me so they collect in little packs at various "dumping stations" around the house: the bottom stair, the ottoman, the bedside table. "Gibble" I believe them are more fondly known as.
Anyway, that is my confession and I'm here to be more fly like you ladies. Is there a weekend list? Maybe I should make my own and do little bits and bobs for today?
Hope to be here more in future.0 -
Embb I'm guessing these clouds are coming from Coastal then, not raining yet but they look ever so heavy
Well DPs taking my car over the garage to attempt a sunroof repair, I keep getting very wet! So that means me, the boys & the dogs ..... Housework & study day it is then so I'll pop in today
I made a start on the kitchen yesterday so I think I'll focus on there today, it's currently a dumping ground for kitchen & non kitchen things but too tiny to cope with it all.I might use the tactic employed in other rooms, dump the excess in boxes, clean it then sort through the boxes....right where's my boxes
Ammonite it might be a tactic you want to try, then it can all be cleaned & you have spaces of time to find everything a proper place. Try with a small room first. Keep in mind what you've boxed & sort out places for everything in your head. Then I get 3 boxes/2 bags and a box. Sort the box into bin, recycle, put away. This method means you can go back to it whenever you have 10 mins, an hour, even 2/3 mins you can put something into a sorted box or put something away out of the put away box.One day I might be more organised...........

Slinkies target 2018 - another 70lb off (half way to what the NHS says) so far 25lb0 -

It's bright sunshine now lil_me, but it didn't have come down earlier, you may be about to get it.
Welcome ammonite, I'd start in one small area, the dot to dot method springs to mind which is clear that one small area then keep it clear, then move onto the next, valli's mantra 'don't put it down put it away' is also a good habit to form, good luck and if you stick with us your home will be gibble free and spit spot as soon as x
Dw on, WM on, just about to nip to the shop for some milk then I'll be doing my ironing pile, probs about 9.15 if anyone's up for a Hour I or HHI??0 -

Welcome to the thread ammonite
LOL how long have I been here and still not worked my way through the house, still only 2 rooms left out of 12 to declutter - oops plus the never ending dumping ground of the attic.Welcome ammonite, I'd start in one small area, the dot to dot method springs to mind which is clear that one small area then keep it clear, then move onto the next, valli's mantra 'don't put it down put it away' is also a good habit to form, good luck and if you stick with us your home will be gibble free and spit spot as soon as x

Kaz that's a lot of rooms, and it's a never ending task sorting through stuff cos it's coming into the house all the time, littley always comes back with a bagful of carp when she's been out with her nana and I never know what to do with it, I know what I'd like to do with it but she wont let me

Brew made, an hours ironing commencing x0 -
Hi ammonite and good luck with it. I started out in a similar way and I did (famously) manage to get the whole house clean and decluttered by sticking to the lists and keeping on top of what I had already done. My DH was equally unbelieving and unhelpful but rather than waste negative energy on resenting his attitude I got on and tidied. It worked well till we moved to a much bigger house, I started working long hours and he turned the place into a building site. I am currently trying to sort things again in small steps.
Little and often (lots of HHCs with rewards for yourself afterwards) works best for me, and trying to keep on top of what I have done, so a quick tidy of the kitchen every night, wipe the loos every day and then it doesn't sink straight back into mess.
Serena always did a great guide on this. I do miss her posts. I wonder if I can find one of her old posts to quote? Toots always did great ones as well.'If you have a garden and a library, you have everything you need' Marcus Tullius Cicero0 -
I've done the ironing, painted the LR door and changed the hose on the council shower (crap and leaked) to my old one which is now water tight :T so hopefully it wont leak into my kitchen when we use it now haha.
Need some food, then I might possibly paint the colour on the walls in the porch, the white miscoat is now annoying me lol then I can put my picture up that I keep shifting about, two birds one stone and all that.0
