Afternoon all
Busy morning with DS1 away to DofE, DS2 needing to pick up his bike from the service shop and DS3 at squash, hurt his head so I needed to go and see him.
2 loads of washing on the line being watched very carefully.
Just digesting lunch and then I'm going to clean the bathroom and then start on all boys bedrooms. Sport on laptop so boys will be still for a while. The birds of sadness may fly overhead but don't let them nest in your hair0 -

and a great time was had, put loads in my basket then closed off the site, weird but I like doing it, it's like buying without buying
Mine has been 2 or 3 days early for the last few months and then this time it was 5 days early. Is it an age thing ? Hadnt seen your post Dusty when I wrote that one!cyclingyorkie wrote: »she's turned up here too - and in my case a week early! Well I was up and showered early . Swopped washing over from WM into TD and another load drying on radiators. Have another load ready that needs sorting now so need to see if stuff on rads dry. Have been into town and stocked up on lots of bits and pieces (mostly toiletries) then went and did my food shop (usually done Sundays) so the only time I have to go out before work tomorrow is to take DD to a friends party tonight.
Need you to share your views on that one.
Scenario - Her friend is fairly new to DD's scene and I have only met her once when she came to DD's birthday. Ive never met her parents. DD was 13 in March. The party tonight is in the local community centre of one of the roughest parts of town and doesnt finish until 11pm (which I think is very late for a 13yr old party but decided to let her go) DD wants to sleep over after the party with some of the others. I am uncomfortable with this as I am not happy with her going to a party in this area for a start, my boss at work is godmother to 2 girls who live in the same road. She has in the past described in detail about some of the things her goddaughters used to get up to, ie smoking, drinking, underage sex etc (their father was a known dealer as well) all in the streets around where they lived. Dh is frequently called out to the area to deal with P U T's and overdoses. My view is that even though I dont know her parents who may be very respectable people, I am compromising by allowing her to go to the party. I can pick her up and despite her saying she wont touch anything she may give in to peer pressure (as everyone else is sleeping over I keep getting told) and at least I can keep an eye on her during the night should I need to. Am I being unreasonable?
Oh and DD has written apologies to me and Dh for going on and on about it and has hoovered the hall, stairs, dining room, and cleaned the kitchen including wiping down the cupboards and appliances while I have been out. Talk about butter me up!
Ok coffees drunk (and cake eaten for lunch) so I have shopping to put away and the rest of the flying to do while Dh is in bed. Need to change my sweatshirt first as it is white!

I have cleaned ALL my shoes and boots. I think I might have too many, although only 2 pairs have made it into the charity bag

I'm not sure why I need 9 pairs of work shoes when I'm not office based anymore. Then again, I still have suits I rarely wear as they're no good for travelling and I don't do many one-day trips.
Better find homes for them all now!0 -
Been to art, put bedding in TD. I have done the art club accounts (a frog), but I can't agree the money
Need to look at it again later, I think.
DS has JUST surfaced - so much for walking the dog this morning!!
Going to make myself some lunch, then go shopping.....
Mum has just phoned to say she is popping over, so shopping will be done after she has gone.
I need to plant my cucumbers, as they are far too big for their pots. hopefully it won't be too cold for them. I put them out last night (with protection). they have already been nibbled :mad: I need to devise a way to put slug pellets down without them being accessible to little people & animals. They will be in big pots, so should be do-able.
Ok - lunch (DS has just had Coco pops!!)0 -

I think you should let her go to the party and then pick her up, but help her out with a good excuse for why she can't stay - perhaps something too good to miss with family the next morning or something that will get the sympathy vote with friends eg" I'm forced to go visit granny who lives miles away". At her age its important not to lose face or look like a "baby" in front of friends.
I had friends from dodgy parts of town when I was a teenager. Most of them were fine, just from poorer families that couldn't afford to live anywhere else. Looking back it did us all good to mix together, but I was always glad there were some boundaries from my parents that meant I wasn't left in a potentially dodgy situation. Mind you, the only time I was actually offered something was at the 18th birthday party of one of the poshest kids in town, at a very respectable venue!

Been helping at an NCT sale this morning, met DH & DS after for a wander and lunch locally in the sunshine. Now home, and needless to say raining again...
Afternoon of cooking needed, with laundry/ironing, and maybe something from i-player for inspiration! Maybe one of DS/DH will take some bags to the CS for me?......wanders off suggesting rewards...
MoamAlthough no one can go back and make a brand new start, anyone can start from now and make a brand new ending.... life is a WIP.

Agree wholeheartedly with this advice. Still going over this ground with our 16 year old - the 13 year old hasn't reached this stage yet, but only a matter of time.
