Ahh laurabllue you nutter, I'd love to be able to have wedding and honeymoon during term time! :) but totally agree about not going back to work before honeymoon....is your wedding next year? Because then you'd have to go back to work for two weeks before the schools go back as Easter weekend is the first weekend of the two week holiday, and that does not sound fun!
  • We are having a honeymoon, though the circumstances are slightly unusual. Believe my OH read a list of things the groom is supposed to take care of and picked the honeymoon as the thing he would take care of. He has booked it, two weeks in October, told me the flight times, but the location I will find out at the airport.

I'm looking forward to a real holiday, our first in several years, though I'm slightly concerned as to where we are going, but hey, trust is part of a relationship right?

Think the only MSE part of it was booking early during a sale period of sorts.

We plan to go away,we have some money aside and have said to guests if they would like to give us a gift then we would prefer money as we have everything we need.we will see how much we have and grab a last min deal after the wedding.me and OH will have been together nearly 7 yrs and havent ever been away together so think we deserve a break from being mum and dad for the week.our children will go to my parents in wales and have a holiday there

I know, we always make a point of not going away in schoo holidays! Yep it's next year :) It's the 30th March which is great as it was classed as 'winter' so we got a great deal-getting married the next weekend would probably have been a couple of thousand more, so I guess we have really saved more by getting married then even with the extra honeymoon costs.

I can't imagine going back into work straight after the wedding. Even if we weren't going away I think I'd book a couple of extra days and do something, even if it was just going for a couple of days out or a two-night stay somewhere in the UK. I'd want to spend time with my new husband!

I agree, and I think 2 nights in a top-class hotel suite with every luxury to hand and total privacy would be a better honeymoon than anything else. Or at least tell everyone that is what you're doing and spend a cosy couple of nights at home with no interruptions.

You can have a great holiday at any time; what would really ruin a honeymoon for me would be the presence of other people, and having to communicate with them.

We are having two weeks in the summer hols, we get married in june and so can't go away until the school hols.

I've dropped hints to OH about cape Verde but I don't want to know until we are at the departure gate - if I can last that long.....

We will aim for a weekend in a cabin the weekend after the wedding, just as an excuse to get away.
Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....
  • We're getting married while we're on holiday, so I guess that will count as our honeymoon.

We both love our holidays and the place we usually go to, so decided to get married there :-)
From Starrystarrynight to Starrystarrynight1 and now I'm back...don't have a clue how!

We are having a week at center parcs in September, after getting married in July. Our daughter will be 18 months and we didn't fancy going abroad. Really looking forward to it.
  • We are getting married in Scotland and ££s were a bit tight so we decided to go to the Lake District straight after wedding for a week and have then booked a couple of nights in Newcastle after that :). Just need to get away and not talk to people afterwards...awful but true!!

Plan is the following summer to do a tour of Europe (NOT bagpacking haha!) so that will be our "big" holiday!! Can't wait to extend the excitement and book that when we get back from our minimoon!
What's fur ye won't go by ye!
