Buy a cheap cake or make one, make a card, you already have the pressies, then live on value stuff till you have money. Forget the loan.
My 18th I was on Remand (charges later dropped), I got news I was being made redundant on my 21st My 24th, 25th, 26th was on exercise in the army, my 27th, 28th, 29th I was on active duty. I had a hell of a party on my 30th and on my 40th I copped off with a 24 year old lingerie model in a rock club.

Just an update to let you all know they have turned me down anyway.0

I didn't think Wonga turned anyone down... Maybe your credit score was too good for them and they were worried that you would just pay it back when you said you would. They don't like customers like that.0

Sorry if I missed it earlier on the thread but have you tried asking your bank for an overdraft/overdraft increase of £100? The interest on a bank overdraft would be tiny compared to Wonga - pennies probably if you're going to clear it in a couple of weeks. If the overdraft is agreed you shouldn't incur any bank fees for going into it - just the interest.
p.s. Don't tell them what it's for. Just say that your problems with BT mean you're slightly short this month.0 -

My credit rating isnt the best to be honest but didnt think id be turned down for £50!
Just gutted now cos i cant even have a little birthday party with nibbles for him now.0 -
I hate to be harsh but that's probably for the best - you will look back and realise this.
Celebrate a few days later. I hope it goes well.
EDIT: Could family/friends bring party nibbles? If they know the situation they'll be fine.

I cant, i had a bank account closed whilst on maternity leave last year as my overdraft built up and i couldnt pay it off.
Now all i have is a basic account with no O.D.0 -
Ah ok - idea above is a good one, invite a few friends/family round and ask them to bring a few nibbles each. They'll understand.
I know you want to celebrate but he's one - all he wants is mummy and daddy paying him attention and being relaxed/happy. That's more than enough for him.Don't let this make you miserable on the day. I know you said you don't drive but do you have a park, or river in walking distance? Anywhere to get out to where he can explore the world?
We've been trying for little ones for a while with no luck yet. You're blessed with a wonderful son and he doesn't need to be spoiled rotten to know he's loved (though I can understand you wanting to do it).0 -

You can still have a great day, go back through this thread and read all those suggestions.
The decision has been made for you....and it is the same one so many have been encouraging you to follow.
We are all breathing a sigh of relief for you. Have a great birthday and an even greater day next week when you have some money to treat him with.
Random smileys due to legal requirements..

Yes we have parks and a river etc in walking distance but this is all we ever do as we have a tight budget.
Just wanted to do something different for him.0
