I am in the n/east and would help, but my concern with this is that. apuppy needs consistant training and if this little thing was passed around various helpers you could end up with a very confused ,insecure and then unhappy dog.
As for doing more than one thread at a time..I too get very mixed up at times, especially trying to do at at home on my mobile and not wrk computer.Yep...still at it, working out how to retire early.:D....... Going to have to rethink that scenario as have been screwed over by the company. A work in progress.0 -
Hi again, the OP has given me permission to ask if anyone in the Stockton on Tees area can help with doggy care while she is at work during the afternoons and evenings?
If she is unable to find local help she is going to give serious consideration to rehoming, but lets see if one of us can help keep this new little pet family together first?0 -

I agree that a number of helpers wouldn't work, but if one person can help her out then it might work.My first reply was witty and intellectual but I lost it so you got this one instead

Definately, just was a bit concerned that OP may not understand this. Hope she can get help, and the better from here where it will be someone who understands animals etc. I hope people who r thinking of getting a pet jump onto this thread 4 a read to get some good advice.Yep...still at it, working out how to retire early.:D....... someone didnt do her homework on pets/puppies,your poor puppy deserves better, you think you are doing good but you are not!
re-home the little one and learn by your mistakes.Harsh though this sounds you cannot expect others to jump in and bail you out,be a grown up and see what you have done, your puppy needs interaction with people and with children how else is it going to learn,it needs to know right from wrong, walking on a lead, play, all these things don't instill themselves in puppy he has to learn them.
when you get home i suppose you go to bed so puppy is still no better off.he needs as this little ode says" A master who is firm and kind, and understands a doggie mind,a walkie and a meal each day is all i ask for when i pray.
Do the right thing and give him up to be placed with a loving family who can be there for him and who has the money to offer him proper vet care for life.
its hurts i know but do the right thing by him.0 -

To be fair to the OP, she didn't want to ask for help on here, I'm the one who persuaded her to try asking before rehoming the pup.My first reply was witty and intellectual but I lost it so you got this one instead

Racey
that was a kind thought. However, I would feel very uncomfortable handing house keys over to someone I dont know. We dont really know anyone here. She should really ask for help from those around her to be on the safe sideweight loss target 23lbs/49lb0 -
your point is?
Just that I'm to blame for the request for help. The OP wasn't expecting or asking for anyone to bail her out before I persuaded her to give it a try.
Op is (rightly) taking a lot of flack but in all fairness, I should shoulder the flack for the help request. My first reply was witty and intellectual but I lost it so you got this one instead

The only way I could see this working in any shape or form without a dog walker is if OP stays up all night when she gets home from work, playing with and training the dog.
In effect the 9 (or 10 now) hours it is alone would be like a long night-time for the rest of us when we are asleep and our dog is asleep or amusing itself (by re-arranging my living room usually!).
The dog (and OP) would then become nocturnal!
Another totally bonkers suggestion: Is there any way OP could take the dog to work? With it being such a small dog, depending where they work it could be possible.
Failing that I am totally out of ideas, other than re-homing.
Pup would surely prefer a home where it gets lots of attention and cuddles at a 'natural' time of day?
OP has said she walks the dog before she goes to work, but what about when she gets in at night? Dogs usually need more than one walk a day, but walking a dog late at night is not something I would particularly enjoy. A night time walk seems pretty essential for this pup too after being left so long at home.
Stumped now I'm afraid0
