no chance of barking, 12 week Chi vs (presumably) adult cat?

No worries, the very real possibility of the cat attacking the pup is an important message to convey.
So now cat lovers are joining the dog lovers in asking you to reconsider your plans LouisMarmaduke. Please listen to us?My first reply was witty and intellectual but I lost it so you got this one instead

OP - You posted on a public forum to ask for advice, and that's what you got, advice. If it's not what you want to hear, then tough.
When you get a pet, you have to fit in with their routines, not the other way around.
If I discovered that a neighbour of mine was keeping a dog couped up for that many hours 5 days a week, then I would have no hesitation in phoning the RSPCA and reporting them.Striving to clear the mortgage before it finishes in Dec 2028 - amount currently owed - £26,322.670 -
I think the tone of some of the posts have been harsh, although done in the interests if what is best.
A house in our village has a dog who wasn't socialised properly - they had hwe from pupdom. They lob her out in the garden because she barks so much, where she terrorises horse riders, joggers, any passer bys - myself included. Luckily l managed to stay in the saddle but a disabled rider ended up with a broken nose and two missing front teeth. No good ever comes from not putting in the time pups need.I have had many Light Bulb Moments. The trouble is someone keeps turning the bulb off

I have asked around at work today for peoples advice on my situation and they have said the polar opposite. they have said that he WILL get used to this and fit into my routine.
Most of us were very understanding and sympathetic and there were some very sensible pieces of advice offered on here from many experienced pet owners that I would much rather pay attention to than MY work colleagues, for instance. Please consider your sources - are they very knowledgeable/experienced or are they even the original "breeder" who is eager to get rid of an unwanted litter?
Also, I see the time the puppy will be alone is now nearer 10 hours - 9 hours is a long, long time, 10 hours is, um, even longer.
I said it before and I will say it again, I know this is very hard, but you must be the bigger person here and put the wee puppy's welfare above your own.31.5/1000 -
workmates are probably just giving you the answer you want. They probably think its not worth telling the truth as they have to work with you.
You did ask - but it doesn't appear that you wanted to hear the advice that is given. Do you realise how selfish you sound? At least try the dogwalker option. Your puppy will be a lot happier with some attention.
I had a neighbour who came home to find her puppy had chewed the legs of her table. She didn't do any research either.

You summed it all up with the title. ( actually I thought it was going to be about reporting someone who had done that)weight loss target 23lbs/49lb0 -

Perhaps the OP could try ringing a professional....vet, RSPCA, animal rescue centre etc and ask them their opinion (although I suspect she knows what they will say so won't)I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

You dont know untill you ask,i regularly look after an ex n/bours dog for free.....love him to bits,in fact when they havent asked me for a while i start getting a bit fed-up and want my 'dog fix'. Try advertising in a local rag, could be other people out there like me who cant have a dog due to their shifts who would like to have your little dude, you coud also find someone en-route to workin nxt village etc.
good luck (coz he does need more attention than at present)Yep...still at it, working out how to retire early.:D....... Going to have to rethink that scenario as have been screwed over by the company. A work in progress.0
