Do you tip the hairdresser?

I do, but then my hairdressers is sooooo cheap that I can afford to. I can get a trim for about £12, so I always tip £2-£3.0

i get my hair cut and coloured every 8-10 weeks, i hav a trainee come round my house to do it. she charges £35 and i tip £5. she does a brilliant job and i like knowing that shes keeping most of the ££!
my beautician will not accept tips tho which is odd cuz shes sooooo reasonable!0 -
I never used to tip the hairdresser, but I never really felt compelled to, I went to different salons every time and was never particularly thrilled.
I just got my haircut for £40 and the stylist was brilliant. She took over an hour for my cut and blow dry (I had a completely new style), took a lot of care, made my tea herself (rather than ordering a junior to do it), and at the end she gave me some sample products to try with my hair and gave me a tour of the salon's new beauty treatment rooms. I gave a £4 tip. She also told me that I can get student discount if I get my haircut on a Tues/Weds, so my cut would cost £32. Since I intend to go back there, I'll get my cut for £32 and leave the change from £35.
I actually feel a bit awkward tipping, but my mum told me she tips every time so I felt I should since I was really happy with the cut, the service and the experience. Even my sister, who is extremely careful with money (despite having loads of it!) and gets a trainee to cut her hair for £15, pays £5 tip each time. My dad gets a cut by a salon owner and doesn't tip (but his cuts are quick) but leaves one large tip every Christmas. Reading this thread I feel a bit embarrassed that I've never tipped the washer so I might start now!0
