The Freesat from Sky option does look good. You get a free box, minidish and installation (of course, I wouldnt need the minidish). But it is £175 one off payment.

I cant find anywhere that it says this Freesat Sky box allows for pausing / recording / etc. If it does, that seems very cheap.

The second part is correct, the first part is nonsense.
You need to speak someone at Sky who has a clue-otherwise their motivation is just to keep you subscribed.
As already pointed out, the £10.50 deal is not a good one, as in 18m you'll have paid the cost of a Foxsat-and will carry on paying £126pa.
You don't need !!!!!!-you still have that service once you cease subscribing-and all the equipment you need.
That £175 would buy you a Foxsat...
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

    I concur...........................
That gum you like is coming back in style.
  • I work for Sky but only deal with the sky talk and broadband.

Why not threaten to cancel and see what they offer you?

If you can switch your services for broadband and talk over to sky you might end up saving yourself some money. Theres an offer on for unlimited broadband free for 6 months. They might even be able to offer you a deal on the line rental, I know some people have got £1 line rental for 12 months. Its worth a try.

If you want anything from Sky go to cancellations they have all the offers. Anyone else you speak to wont be able to offer you anything, even a manager!

Tethian. £175. That buys you a Sky box, card and dish. You already have these 3 things. It DOES NOT allow you to record. £189 will buy you the Foxsat HDR (cheaper on eBay I'm sure) and you will have HD and recording. There IS an option to pay them a tenner a month to record, you've just got someone on the phone that doesn't know that.

Someone else has just told me some more information.
I can buy a Freesat card for my Sky+ box once I have cancelled.
I am assuming though that all this will allow me to do is to view the channels and not actually record them.

But your existing card already does that once you cease your subscription! You don't need to buy another one.
You've already been told that the Sky+ functions are disabled without a Sky sub, there is no way around this.
PS: it is not a Freesat card, Freesat is a different platform.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

As macman says, and as you've been told several times here already, that card that you seem to really want to buy, is a freesatfromsky card, and will give you exactly the same thing as the card in your box right now will do, if you stop subscribing.
Your options are to cancel and leave the card in, pay £10 per month, keep your subscription going, or switch platform.
The option you want, to record on your Sky box without subscribing to anyone, CANNOT be done!
