I am still shaking with relief as our eldest son got into Dover Grammar School for Boys, quite an achievement for him as he has dyspraxia and has spent the last 6 years on the special needs register on school action plus. His school is also in special measures and he has had 3 consecutive years with NQTs who weren't getting the support they needed.
I really feel for those children and parents in Kent who today got less positive news about grammar school entry. I am opposed in principle to grammar schools but in practice want all our children to do their best academically and am therefore so proud our son made it against the odds without an appeal, just on his own ability.0 -
Well done to all of you who got their first choice, It is a very stressful time.
I spent a load of time finding out about the appeals procedure for our son's chosen school as I was convinced he wouldn't get in.
Couldn't believe it when he did!(AKA HRH_MUngo)

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton0 -

To anyone that has not got the place they wanted, remember that more places will come up in the next few weeks as children allocated a place in a popular school decide not to take it as they are going private.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards.
