Is Today the Day for Secondary School Placements?

Hi,

Is anybody able to tell me if today is supposed to be the day that you find out if your child has a place at your chosen secondary school for September? I was watching GMTV this morning and it seemed to imply that we should all hear via the post today. I have not received anything in the post this morning...does anybody know if this is true or not? Is it different dates for different countys?

I am a bit worried because we moved countys last October, when the forms were meant to be sent in to the education dept, ours was very late and I am so worried that my daughter will not get a place at the local secondary school....

Yes today is the day. You will either here by post or email depending on what option you chose to be notified by. I live in Brentwood and on the School admissions website it says emails will be sent out late afternoon today. I keep checking my email as I want my son to go to St Martins and hope to God that he gets a place.

I too am waiting on tenterhooks. I've just checked my local council website and it says that offers are being posted on March 1st. I suppose that means I will have to wait until tomorrow at the earliest now.

In my LEA they are posting them today, so they are received tommorow. You can check online from 9am tommorow morning (expect the website to crash!) so you don't have to wait for the post.

At least, that's what it looked like when I checked it yesterday.

We are expecting 'the letter' tomorrow as our LEA is posting them out today. I asked my DD whether she would like to open it - and said yes, except that the post doesn't come unitl late morning, and so will have to wait until she gets home from school.

I have just checked the online website again regarding my sons secondary school place and the results are there he has been allocated his first choice St Martins so I am very happy. Good luck to all those who need to appeal.

got an email today as i applied online, said on there that letters would be sent 1st march so those who applied via post would find out tomorrow or by the weekend........ my lad got his place but wasn't expecting any probs anyway.. good luck to those who need to appeal and good luck to all the kids moving up in September, my young lad is sooooooooo excited , he'd go tomorrow if he could !
