I have no problem with people seeking advice, but when they say 'I was nearly hurt' then ask about compo it is taking the pee

Granted and I agree with you there are some fake posters on here at times, but the posters on this site seem to tar everyone with the same brush.

Take for example Sandy's post on this thread. She has a little girl, who suffers from an awful condition. She has more than likely treated her with kid gloves since she was born. There is nothing more upsetting for a parent to see her child in pain.

She didn't state that she thought she was entitled to Compensation. All she did was state that her SIL said she should go for it.

Yes I agree, her SIL said that and I don't agree with it. Some people are tuned into, what they can get from others. Look at the scroungers on the grabbit boards here for examples.

Sandy was by the looks at it very upset with the incident, her daughter was injured, yes it was minor, but if you have a child with a life long ailment, you would be too. She was happy with how the store dealt with her , said the staff were great, but only asked what advice anyone could give, as she hadn't been in the situation before. She seemed happy with the gift card she was given as a way of apology.

The way some posters on here replied was nothing short of disgraceful. No one was in the position she was in, was asking for advice and got slated for itas being a scrounger for compo.

She did not deserve this. This has escalated to such an extent , that the following thread was placed.....

https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/3896637

Look at post 4. If that is not taking the p1ss, nothing is. Quote....

this was half-aimed at the 'my daughter's leg is hanging off because of a broken shelf - who can i sue?' thread, but i've just read the 'muscle wastage' that she's suffering from. the mother might be over-reacting, but i can't be poking fun at a bairn with a muscle wastage illness

f you haven't got anything constructive to say, then don't post, Simple.

The sooner the laws are tightened up on abusive posting in public domain and the compensation culture, with no win no fee being abolished, then this country will become a better place.

IMO, the Mods on here are doing a very poor job in stopping all this abuse, they really need to get their act in order. I am amazed Martin Lewis wants his name involved with it.

This is not just an issue on Consumer Rights; "abusive" posts are made in many areas - so I'm going to move the thread across to "This Site Feedback" where, perhaps, the Forum Team may be able to address your concerns.

Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere (please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. If you have any questions about this policy please email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com
Hi, I'm a Board Guide on the Old Style and the Consumer Rights boards which means I'm a volunteer to help the boards run smoothly and can move and merge posts there. Board guides are not moderators and don't read every post. If you spot an inappropriate or illegal post then please report it to forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com. It is not part of my role to deal with reportable posts. Any views are mine and are not the official line of MoneySavingExpert.

Should everyone prosecuted and found not guilty recieve compensation for their trauma? Grovelling apology too perhaps?

Err, what has that got to do with consumer rights?
• Thank you rustyboy21
I must admit, I feel like I have had the mick taken out of me, I rarely post, but on this occasion I thought this was the best place to come for advice
There have been some great members who have given me lots of different sides of the arguement, and also some members who are being sarcastic and just mean
But my faith has been restored due to members such as rustyboy21

Thanks Sandy.

I come on here, mainly to see if I can offer advice in my chosen expertise. I also have a general look around at other posts.

It annoys me intensly, when people like yourself ask genuine questions or seek advice on here and you are battered by what I can only state are trolls, some of them being on here for many years, with lots of posts. It is like a private members club and if your face doesn't fit, you ain't coming in, or you are persecuted for posting a question.

The moderators really need to come down hard on some of the diehard MSE members, I can name at least 6 off the top of my head, who are rude, abusive and get away with murder on here. It is getting to be like twitter on here at times with the abuse given by posters, who hide behind their keyboards and think they can get away with anything.

I got homophobic abuse thrown at me the other month, it went on for 5 days. Eventually the thread was removed, but the poster is still ok to post. How is that??? !

This should be a site to gain, or give advice, some think it is perfectly acceptable to slate you or make fun of you with no questions asked, Brettcta being one of the main ones.

That is why I felt the need to post what I have done.

Moderators, GET IT SORTED !!!
• Sorry you had abuse too.
It's a shame that a few spoil it for so many others.

Thanks Sandy

It is also a shame, that the likes of squeaky, decide to lord it over any posts made that in any way, put down the Mods or Board guides.

They will not answer what they are willing to do to try and stop abuse by other members on genuine posters. All they seem to be capable of doing is deleting any posts that ask them to answer for themselves and then block you posting anything else on the thread.

They have blocked me from commenting any more on your thread about your daughter, but have still left the poster who was throwing Homophobic abuse at me, to carry on posting, This I find is highly discriminatory, if not Illegal !

So I ask on here the question again.... What are the guides and Moderators going to do about the abusive posters on here? Don't just delete the post, take action against the abuser. If you don't then it only makes you the same as them.

I have read the guides as you said, All it says is report any abuse, I did that the abuse was taken off, but no penalty was given to the abuser. You say don't abuse the staff, What about us who are getting abused and you won't even reply to emails sent? You are beginning to look a bit of a joke here chaps !

Make me a board guide, I would clean the abusers out of here within a day.

PVT me and I will give you a list of abusers, You want to run the site, listen to people who want to use it as it should be used, without the Cr*p getting thrown at you all the time !
