It depends what the problem is.

If its above regulation height, they can't fit it now so you stay as you are.

If its a technical issue duch as the engineer is not trained to do a more complex job, it will mean a supervisor or senior engineer coming out at another time.

If its blocked in terms of space, you will need to clear the blockage if its your property in the way.

If the cut out a page is too low for the meter, it would mean the distributor upgrading it...which will take months.

If the new meter is larger and won't got in the meter cupboard, again its back to the distributor and a wait.

If you live in a flat and your main meter is in a locked room and access cannot be guaranteed, an engineer trained an an electrician can fit it in your flar and wire it to the main credit meter, known as a collector. This cannot be agreed without the landlords say so as it requires some drilling/wiring. In some properties its not feasible and listed would obviously be a no-no.

The emphasis for you is the complaints team stepping in and stopping all action until they can resolve it.

If you are not in for a warrant and they have a locksmith with them, they will get in and change it. The meter will be live will hardly anything on it so you will need to get to a pay point and ask for a key and then pay for credit so you can insert it into your meter when you get home.

A PPM is to avoid deenergisation of your meter. They then will need to get the debt set on the meter which will force you pay the debt off.

Not sure on the locksmith part, there are some more posters on this board with more collections knowledge who can answer that, I'm sure.

When doing 'warrant runs' they tend to book a meter worker and locksmith for the day/half day and do as many as possible as its cheaper than doing 1 one day and 1 another day. In some areas they may even bring a 'minder'.

    ****UPDATE****

Right had a lady on the phone earlier today, she was actually very nice and helpfull. Basically she said that the day to have the meter fitted is the 30th of april which is after the warrant, but she said that she is going to try and bring forward before the day of the warrant so hopefully will be next week sometime, she said she will ring me on monday first thing to tell me if she has managed to bring the appointment forward or not, so fingers crossed. At least though if they if it does end up going to court because they are unable to bring the date forward at least i know they are coming on the 30th so i can make sure i am in. So that is a start. Will have to wait till Monday before i know what is going to happen but my mind has been put as ease a lil. Thankyou everyone for your advice, glad i posted on this forum, will let you know what happens on Monday!

If they apply for a warrant it may cost you £50 or so.

If they fit a ppm under warrant they add another £150 or so.

I'd therefore be looking for written confirmation that these charges will not be levied against you rather than a vague "promise" if I were you.

    Good luck

Good point. However the nPower rep has posted on this thread and I would construe any charges as an act of bad faith - even for an agreed appointment after the warrant date.

I might be wrong, but I believe that with what has happened up to present, an application for a Warrant at this stage may well be an abuse of process - unless OP has had a notice requiring entry on a certain date failing which a warrant will be applied for.
