Can anyone recommend a gun range in Tampa area ?

We used to use the SR-2 Veresk submachine gun back home in Russia, although unlike most submachine guns, SR-2 is gas powered and a bit of a pain, although my new work tool is better.
The sig-saucer SSG 3000 is a bolt action, magazine fed rifle. It was developed in Switzerland and Germany. It is a common law enforcement sniper rifle in both Europe and the United States. The SSG 3000 was developed by SIG Sauer and is well renowned for its high quality0 -

What within your psyche makes you think it would be a good idea to take an 8 year old to a range like this, and why o' why do you need to see what it feels like to fire an M16? I can tell you what it feels like to see people out of uniform firing these things - bloody weird and rather more worrying than I would like

These weapons are about as remote as you can get from toys. So why are you posting along the lines of toying around with them? They are designed with only one purpose in mind - to kill people and to scare the sh|t out of people who see them being used. Anything other than official training to kill people or to scare the sh|t out of them is toying around.
I've met some strange civilians behind weapons of this type. Among them were the ones lobbying for the right to continue to keep F1s at home for "practical shooting" purposes after Hungerford.
To say I am surprised at this thread is actually an understatement.
hello 2sides
Different strokes for different blokes.
Taking my son to a shooting range isn't a big deal (well it isn't to me, but you may lay an egg at the idea), but I was wondering if he'd be allowed to be trained to fire a weapon safely (assuming that he'd like to).
As for firing an M16 at a range, why not ?? Its perfectly legal to do so in the US and its something that I'd never get the chance to do in the UK. I seem to recall seeing several people firing them (& various Kalashnikovs) in Texas a couple of years agao and it left me curious rather than " bloody weird and rather more worrying than I would like
".
Don't be surprised - embrace the different attitudes and points of view that abound in MSEland.:beer:0 -

Why would anything 'kick off' ? In the ranges that I've ever used its all very calm and controlled, with individuals (& families) enjoying the surroundings and facilities.0 -
Im not into kids shooting either but they're your young'uns and you know best.
However in murphs defence over the years ive fired a lot of guns in my line of work and the thrill wears off, and, for the kid, maybe shooting something and realising how much power these things have may put them off guns and realise they arent fashion accs.Live each day like its your last because one day you'll be right0 -

When we go on a family holiday, it is exactly that. As much as possible, we do everything together and experience everything together. If we can safely go shooting together, (& if MTK would like to try it) then we will (my fiver year old daughter will need to pass this time around). If he can't, its something to look forward to for another time.
For me & Mrs Cat, its not so much a 'thrill', as the chance to do something that we've previously enjoyed doing, that we wouldn't be allowed to do in the UK, legally and safely.
Plus, worst target buys lunch

While you are in the area don't miss the barrier islands, Captiva, and Sanibel A bit tamer than shooting(!) but they have crab racing, the kids will love it.
