OK thanks for the info. I sent the form off this morning with a brief covering note and scanned copy of my passport as proof of ID. Don't expect they'll accept it but worth a try.

on the basis that if they are offering a product to the market they want folks to actually buy/use it, why would they limit this to a branch only product.
I don't get what is in it for them?
Some decent rate accounts have terms like:
Must have dependants under 18??? !!!!!!???
Must live within 25 miles of Stockport??? WHY???
In the current market of the triple dip recession (yes, I did indeed and am not afraid to say it!) what are we to expect if the government are hell bent on letting the banks get away with "murder" and still line their pockets with billions in bonuses, even after bailing the banks out, and giving the banks cheap loans that aren't giving to customers, housing market on the floor and yet how are those that are trying still meant to get together 10% for a deposit of at least a 250k property??TARGET Deposit for my 1st house!:A NEED£30k:eek: WANT£45k GOT 1stDRegSaver:£1200@ 6% GROSS 1/10/15||SantanderISA:£11,820.41 @ 2.30% 16/04/16| Newcastle BS ISA:£15,149.80 @ 3.02%|Santander123 Cashback earnings: £274.48|TotalCashSavings:£32,302|Last Update:22/2/15:T

Because they want to support families.
Because they have decided to offer their services just in the Stockport area.
These sorts of offerings have been around since the year dot, and will be around in the future whether you approve or not. It is for the BBSs and banks to decide what business model and offers they will run.0 -

Exactly... it's not to ensure deposits are of a manageable amound as suggested above - if this were the case, they'd just release a 3.2% regular savings ISA or something similar that has a rate JUST high enough to get them to the top of the best buy list.
There'd be no need to offer 4% if they wanted to avoid excessive deposits.0 -

It's not so much that I don't approve & OK, I didn't know that this had always been the case, however I do understand some accounts are only for children etc.
However, it's a real kick in the teeth for me as a single person & no kids whom has seen at least 3/4 accounts of late that penalise people because I don't meet certain requirements, which realistically have nothing to do with if I can save or not, just seems to be discrimination for not having children or not living outside of London.......
I just don't think banks should be able to discriminate against potential customers, for any other reason than finances.....i.e. you don't earn enough to borrow....
Kind of makes me relate this to the man (whom I DO NOT LIKE) whom went EU Courts and won against Car Insurance premium costs being higher for him because he IS statistically more likely to make a claim than a woman..... & Now we're all paying a hell of a lot more.....TARGET Deposit for my 1st house!:A NEED£30k:eek: WANT£45k GOT 1stDRegSaver:£1200@ 6% GROSS 1/10/15||SantanderISA:£11,820.41 @ 2.30% 16/04/16| Newcastle BS ISA:£15,149.80 @ 3.02%|Santander123 Cashback earnings: £274.48|TotalCashSavings:£32,302|Last Update:22/2/15:T

Not an ISA I know but Norwich & Peterborough's e-Family Regular Saver does not check whether you have children and pays 5%
Cheers
