I think that's part of the problem with online dating, a lot of females would be discouraged within the first day by the number and content of messages they get. Especially true on POF because it's free.

I've no opinion on the matter, however the sheer number of users that POF has means that there will be a lot of boys making first contact, and some of those first contacts will be at best rude, at worst obscene.

I can see how it would immediately put someone off.
