Anyone had any luck on the dating scene or maybe found a decent night spot where over 35s can feel at home ?

I'm not much of a socialiser so couldn't tell you about night spots. Internet dating is very hit and miss, well mostly miss. Know a few people have met at Ulster rugby games though... which I imagine makes for interesting first conversations!

Certainly when you are over 35 it seems to become much more difficult....

Is the Flamingo Ballroom still the hotspot it used to be ?

Wow! lol, the Flamingo hasn't been a "hotspot" in manys a year! Now a fitness place. Ballymena, although great for shopping etc, turns into a dive once it comes 5pm. Nightlife is rubbish, better heading to Belfast.

Bojangles, sadly now gone. Harcourt Street, Dublin.
Think it was in the Russell Court Hotel.

I've heard some horror stories regarding Plenty of Fish, on there are apparently girls who live on the site and just want to see how popular they are. On the flip side the boy apparently behave very poorly too, this transcends to the "real world" where girls find out they are not as popular with the boys as they thought and ultimately they are left hurt, while boys sending naked pictures of themselves generally doesn't work outside of online dating either.

In many ways it's an extension of the 'validation' service that Facebook provides. 'Look how many likes/freinds/winks/messages' I get. Not the case for everyone but it is rife. It's why I stopped using POF, too difficult to weed out the serious people (other reason is I'm ugly as sin and no soul wanted me :D ).

I have used it but I wont put my picture on it and the abuse I have got from some saying so your ugly then among other things put me off I feel that some not all want a size 10 blonde with no ties and sadly when you get to 40 that's not really going to happen
I think I will just give up and remain single .:D
