Hi All

Not much news today. This morning I received my £5 Boots voucher from Lightspeed. Woohoo!! This means I can now update my total for the make £10 a day challenge.

I have been into town this morning and bought a few things from Iceland I also posted my lasted Amazon parcel - that's 6 things sold in the last week. Yippee!!

Now I am curled up on the sofa watching the opening ceremony for the Paralympics.

I suppose I ought to do a to-do list for today but don't expect it to be very long - I don't have the energy!

O.K. then, today's to do list:

• Strip our bed
• Do some washing
• Do some surveys
• Do daily clicks on Quidco, Pigsback and Banana lotto
• Do a bit of housework - whatever takes my fancy!

That's about all I shall manage today!

Hi All

I had a funny old weekend – I was feeling really down for some reason.

I managed to get a few jobs done over the weekend – lots of washing, a bit of cleaning and tidying in the house and in the shed. Yesterday I put the lawnmower and strimmer back in the shed – after repeatedly asking OH to do it, if he wasn’t going to actually mow the lawn, I finally got fed up and did it myself.

OH was away in London yesterday and won’t be back until later today - he was rehearsing yesterday afternoon and evening and then very conveniently he has an audition for an advert this morning (he was staying over last night anyway).

OH got his first pay packet from the care home on Saturday and it was not as much as he was expecting. Only £86 for 5 x 4 hour shifts! It really isn’t enough!

I got really fed up over the weekend with OH not putting stuff away and not doing jobs that he was meant to. When he first moved in we put his old PC in DS’s room – it is only Windows 3.1 but we thought it would do for DS to play on. Since then we have been asking OH to set it up so that DS could actually use it – attach all the cables, etc etc. That was over 4 years ago and he still hasn’t done it! So yesterday we fished out 2 of DS’s old toy boxes (curver boxes I think, IYKWIM) and put all the various parts of the computer in these boxes and then I dumped them on the floor on OH’s side of the bed. I did the same with some of OH’s ‘random bags of stuff’ (bags that OH packs for various things – jobs etc – and never unpacks again and just leaves them lying around!). Do you think he might get the message?!

When I was doing some tidying up yesterday I found the last letter (I assume) that OH received from the students loans people. I have attached this to the fridge door with a note saying ‘Isn’t it about time you did something about this?!’

Is it any wonder I am fed up?!

Anyway, today is the day that Halifax told me to phone them back to see if they have reinstated my promotional APRs so I will do that when I get home. I will try again during the day to look on my online account to see if it gives any clue – Egg Money Manager was just showing ‘Error’ for that account when I checked earlier.

DS and I went to my Dad’s for dinner yesterday evening to celebrate his birthday, so I actually drank some alcohol yesterday – some red wine and some port, yum! With our economy drive at the moment alcohol has been one of the sacrifices, but needs must and all that!

I think that is all the news for now. I will do a to-do list in a separate post.

Right then, today’s to-do list:

· Phone Halifax to see if my promotional APRs have been reinstated
· Prepare Avon returns, ready for when the delivery comes tomorrow morning
· Get new Avon books ready to go out
· Do surveys
· Do daily clicks on Quidco, Pigsback and Banana lotto
· Do some washing (loads to do now since DS tidied his bedroom!)

I think that’s plenty to be going on with!

This cant be right minimum wage is £5.52 an hour and you can earn approx £100 before you start getting tax & ni deductions.

This means one of a few things.

a) they have him on a BR tax code which means he doesnt get his personal allowance (normally because he hasnt given them a p45 from his previous job)

or

b) Depending when his shifts are he has only been paid for 3 as one might fall into the following week.

I'd get him to check his payslip properly.

Thanks! I had no idea what minimum wage was so this really helps.

Mind you, option (a) sounds likely because he hasn't got a P45 - he hasn't left a job to do this one, the job is addition to other work he is still doing (albeit less of).

Is the other work on a self employed basis or employed?

Also helpful to know minimum wage goes up to £5.73 on the 1st of October.
