Today's news from the PigginSkint household...
I have been a busy piggy today - I like to at least try to get up to date with my housework before I go away. I have been doing loads of washing so I am nearly up to date with that. The living room doesn't look too bad - luckily the Betterware man came on Friday so OH actually had a tidy up and hoovered round (about the only time he does any housework!). The kitchen isn't too bad because I have been gradually doing bits all week, needs finishing though. And today the bathroom has been well and truly blitzed. The only thing that still needs cleaning is the big seagrass rug/mat - it is currently on the washing line waiting for a good thrashing to get all the dust (aka talc) out of it. A job for DS I think!!PigginSkint's debt free diary

I went to our local retail park because I needed to buy some gas canisters ready for our camping (Argos was definitely the best price I had found)
While I was down there I went into Sainsburys on a yellow label hunt and I did really well this time - 4 bags of shopping for about £5! Woohoo! I managed to get lots of yummy fruit, some bread, crumpets, nice cookies, some meat, veggies and a big tub of stir fry veg for 50p which we had for dinner tonight (I already had some diced pork and cashew nuts in the freezer, and some noodles and stir fry sauce in the cupboard).PigginSkint's debt free diary

I have had an email today to say that my latest Amazon payment is on its way, so that should be in my account by the end of the week. Woohoo!! Also my child benefit has gone in.
I think I might just manage to get through this week still in credit, though I shall have to do some calculations to see if that is really the case. It is going to be a close run thing because I have a lot of payments going out this week and the current state of play re the emergency fund is...
Money left in ISA: £24
So you see my problem! I don't have much of a buffer if I haven't got enough money to pay for everything! Mind you, I have paid quite a lot of Avon money into my account and by the time I actually have to pay for my order, I should have some extra money.
I also need to do my first of the month figures. Unfortunately because I don't have excel at home I can only view my spreadsheet, I can't update it. This means I shall have to work things out a different way!!PigginSkint's debt free diary

Some good news - OH has another interview on 13th August. Woohoo!!
It is only a part-time odd hours job, but it is somewhere where he would really like to work and because the work would be mainly evenings and weekends, this means he could do other work as well. The employer would also be the same as mine, but at a different site - and I know for a fact that it is good institution to work for.PigginSkint's debt free diary

(can you tell I am paranoid about the laptop cutting out again - it has done it to me at least twice today already)
I think that is all the news for now.
Tomorrow is going to be a busy day because I need to get everything ready for our camping trip on Tuesday. Also need to go and pay some more money into my account and a couple of other jobs in town.
I have had a look at the 5-day weather forecast today and it is looking grim, so tomorrow I want to go and try to find some cheap wellies for me and DS - luckily OH already has some. I could probably manage without as I have a pair of waterproof walking boots (a new pair that I had to buy a few weeks ago because the other pair were worn right through on both soles - but they were 5 years old and have had some seriously heavy wear so I wasn't too disappointed about having to buy new ones). DS, on the other hand, does not have any waterproof footwear that fit.
Luckily we all have waterproof jackets and trousers - I think we are going to need them.
I think that is all for now.

Just a quickie update as we go camping today - hooray!
SM and Dad took me and DS shopping yesterday and bought new trousers for DS (badly needed - he is growing like a weed), new tops for me and a pair of wellies for DS (I've seen the weather forecast for the next few days!). Tried to find me a pair of wellies as well but they didn't have my size. It doesn't really matter as I have waterproof walking boots.
The rest of yesterday was spent cleaning and tidying the house (I like to leave it looking reasonably good when we go away) cooking and packing.
Anyway, must go. Still a few things to do.
Back Friday!!PigginSkint's debt free diary
