Hi All
Thank crunchie it’s Friday!!! :j
Latest Amazon parcel and student loans form are now in the post - phew! Hope they are O.K. about the missing payslip – I have sent them 3 plus my P60 so with any luck that should be enough!
OH has had a letter this morning about his teacher training application (regular readers of this diary may remember that he was rejected from the university that he applied to). His application is now going through ‘Clearing’ so he may yet get accepted on a course. It all depends where it is though – it would have to be local. He would still have to pass his maths and there is no way we could for him to do it this year (it’s a very intensive course so there is no way he could work as well – I know, I’ve done it!). However, if he did get accepted that would be one hurdle overcome and he can always defer for a year.
Had a go on the old free b*i*n*g*o again last night but about 10pm it chucked me out and I couldn’t back in – I got into the website O.K. but couldn’t get into any of the rooms. Very frustrating.
Tomorrow evening we have been invited to an 85th birthday party. Woohoo!! Free food and booze here we come!
On Sunday OH is going down to London to rehearse again. I can’t quite remember why, but it is a longer rehearsal this time so he is actually coming back on Monday morning – staying over at someone’s house so at least the accommodation won’t cost anything.
DS finishes school for the summer today. I can’t believe he has done 2 years in high school already. Frightening! Anyway, he is going to his Dad’s for the weekend and then will be with me for the next 3 weeks, before he goes to spend 3 weeks with his Dad (we split school holidays 50:50) and then he will come back to me just before he goes back to school.
Not much else to report on today really. If I remember anything else I will post again later – if I am still awake that is!!!
Have a good weekend everyone!PigginSkint's debt free diary

Hi All
Sorry I have been a bit quiet over the last few days – I have been rather busy and I am going to be for the rest of the week.
Summary of activity for the last few days:
Friday evening I did some shopping at Aldi on way home. DS went to his Dad’s for the weekend and OH and I had a relaxing evening watching the first night of the Proms. OH made dinner – what an interesting experience that was! I decided I wanted a veggie burger with new potatoes and salad. The first problem was that he did far too many potatoes – so I have still got some cold ones in the fridge waiting to be used up. Then I happened to wander in the kitchen and discovered he had used a cabbage instead of lettuce (surely they are not that difficult to tell apart). So there is now a small bag of cabbage in the fridge now waiting to be used. Then when describing what pot to use to make the salad dressing he fished out something far too big ( I usually use a Tupperware one that is about the size of a jar which you can then put the lid on and give it a good shake). Then I discovered that the use of a box grater was clearly more complicated than I thought – he used the slicing side instead of the grating side to grate the carrots! Dear me! But at least he tried!! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
Saturday I listed a load more books for sale on Amazon. I went through another 2 full boxes worth and ended up with 2 boxes (same 2 but not so full!) to go to charity and another half a box of books listed for sale. I also collected nearly all my Avon books back in. In the evening we went to a birthday party – at a house, so lots of free food and booze! Woohoo!! :j
Incidentally, after going a bit quiet for a while, I have sold 5 books in the last week - 4 since Saturday. Woohoo!!:j
On Sunday OH was in London all day and stayed overnight. I got up at 6:30am to make sure OH woke up, to make him a flask of coffee and to make sure he didn’t forget his sandwiches. Then I went back to bed and unlike last weekend I did actually manage to go back to sleep! When I got up I did some housework, had a bit of an MSE fix and then went out on my bike to go yellow sticker hunting but failed miserably – perhaps I just went too late? Did some Avon when I got back and managed to get rid of my last delivery – woohoo! DS got back from his Dad’s (now with me for 3 weeks) and I made a scrummy cheese and potato pie for our dinner – with baked beans and fried onions.
Yesterday DS went to Grandma and Grandad’s for the day and came back home with a gooseberry crumble he had made (home-grown gooseberries). Unfortunately I am the only one in our house who likes gooseberries, which means I am going to have to eat it all myself – what a shame! I had the first portion last night and it was delish!!
Yesterday evening I checked through all my Avon orders ready to put them online tonight. Typically one customer decided to write out a long list of product codes and prices – no page numbers, no descriptions! Very helpful, I don’t think. This means I can’t check the codes are right, or if the prices are right – I have got to work out what she has ordered before I can this. I have managed to do a few by flicking through the brochure but I am going to have to do the rest when I go online tonight – luckily they do have a ‘view descriptions’ option so I will be able to look them up and write them in. I shall have to do this anyway for when I come to bagging stuff up when the delivery comes. Very infuriating! If only she had just put the page numbers, that would have been a start. As it is, it is anyone’s guess what she has ordered!! Some people are just so lazy! Sorry rant over!!
I am very busy at work at the moment as there are some vivas going on all day tomorrow for a postgraduate course that I am the course administrator for, so I have being working flat out to get everything ready. We will have an hour’s break after the end of the vivas before the Exam Board starts, which means a rest for everyone except me – I shall be calculating the final marks ready to be discussed and signed off at the meeting. This means that I am having to do as much as can possibly do in advance today!
Anyway, I suppose I had better get on with it as I don’t want to be too late leaving today as tomorrow will be a very long day.
Bye all!!PigginSkint's debt free diary

Items reduced for quick sale in supermarkets. The whoops! stickers in Asda and the equivalent in Sainsburys. I usually look particularly for meat and fish (for OH and DS) and bread. I couldn't find any! The only thing I found was a packet of curry powder for 10p in Asda.PigginSkint's debt free diary

Hi All
Today I have finally made a very difficult decision. It is something that lots of people (including many people on here) have been nagging me to do for ages, but I have finally given in and done it....
I have taken the credit card off OH
I sat him down and had a serious (but calm) talk with him about the economies I am going to have to make - no more eggs, bacon, alcohol, serious reduction in cheese consumption and more vegetarian dinners for DS and OH. I then pointed out that even though I transferred the balance from the Egg card to Halifax card approximately 3-4 weeks ago, when I checked the balance on the Egg card today it is over £200 again! So I said that I really didn't want to do it, but I really had to take it off him.
He accepted the situation with good grace, it has to be said!PigginSkint's debt free diary
