yes, 40 in Nov 2010.....and desperately wanting to be debt free by then!
Sorry to read that you are losing your voice.....not an excuse to give OH a quiet life though
Thanks - I totally agree! Strange the similiarity of responses eh?:D It did gradually come back over the course of the evening, I am glad to say.PigginSkint's debt free diary

hypnos right you know that thing on the end of your arm, use it to give him a nudge, if he doesnt get the message then proceed to writing it down
hay maybe that isnt such a bad idea
if its there in black and white for him, surely he cant be that complacent!
Thanks! Yes I do use notes actually - I occasionally write him lists of things to do and stick it to the fridge (where he is bound to see when he goes to get milk when making a cup of coffee). I think I need to do that a bit more!PigginSkint's debt free diary

The news for today...
Well the biggest news today is that OH has got is maths test this morning – let’s hope he passes! It is at 10:30am and I think it is 2 hours so I expect to hear from him about lunchtime how he has got on.
No idea how long he will have to wait for the results though – we could do with knowing soon as there is another sitting at the beginning of August if he doesn’t pass this time. He has worked very hard for it so I think he stands a good chance of passing.
I did suggest to him last night that he should have an early night as I think the best preparation the night before an exam is a good night’s sleep. It was 2:30am when he came to bed! Typical! But he did say that he had finally got one topic clear in his head which he had been unsure of so perhaps it was worth it – we shall see!
I have sold another book on Amazon. It is not a particularly high priced item but it is small and so won’t cost much to post. I have also just been through my current inventory and adjusted some of the prices to match the lowest price. One other thing I need to do is adjust the delivery options – currently they all listed as ‘Domestic only’ but what I want to do with most, if not all of them , is change this to ‘Domestic and Europe’ in the hope of generating some more sales.
I will be glad when I get my next payment from Amazon and it should be a biggy and will certainly help the cashflow situation.
I can’t think of anything else to report at the moment, except THANK GOODNESS IT’S FRIDAY!!!
Bye all!PigginSkint's debt free diary

Hi All
I forgot to say that I am actually feeling a lot better today. My voice has returned and I am feeling a lot less tired – I had a good soak in the bath last night and an early night (asleep before 11pm) which I think has done me the world of good.
The other thing I forgot to say is that I am planning to cancel my subscription to WeightWatchers Online. I am just not in the right frame of mind to lose weight at the moment and it is just a waste of money – especially given the state of our finances at the moment.
OH should be nearly an hour into his exam now – wonder how he is getting on......PigginSkint's debt free diary

Hi All
OH has finished his test – he phoned me just after 12pm (I got the timings wrong – it was actually 10:00-12:00 not 10:30-12:30). He thinks he has done O.K. although there were some questions he couldn’t answer as he didn’t know that type of question was going to be on there (I thought he had swotted up on all the topics).
Anyway, he will get the results by post in about 3 weeks time. Let’s hope he has passed this time as that will too late to get onto the next sitting.PigginSkint's debt free diary

Hi All
Well the emergency fund has taken another battering! I went to Aldi on the way home on Friday and got a few bits and pieces – some essentials. Then on Saturday I went to Iceland and a did a large-ish shop to stock up - £37.80 – and took advantage of the free delivery service. This was somewhat necessary as we were beginning to run out of food – well the boys certainly were as there was very little meat or fish left (I don’t eat either). While £37.80 might seem a lot of money I did get a lot of stuff and there is probably easily enough food for OH and DS to last a couple of months, if not longer – bought loads of cheap stuff.
Anyway, this essential food spending means (as I knew it would) that I would need to transfer some money over from my emergency account (LTSB ISA) to my current account to cover it, as I knew there were lots of things going out of my account today. In addition I have another payment going out tomorrow so I have just transferred a little bit more to cover that. So the scores on the doors are:
Money left in ISA: £90
I have another (small) payment going out on Thursday so I will have to wait and see whether I have got enough to cover that. My Avon delivery is due tomorrow so if I get some early payments for stuff that might be O.K. In addition I have an Amazon payment due any time. I will just have to play it by ear for now.
OH has had a couple of poor weeks with the Betterware, so that does not exactly help! His brother phoned him on Friday to talk to him about the work that might be coming up where he works. Basically what’s happening is that they have a new shift starting this week. Once that has started they will be able to work out where the shortfall is. Then they will advertise and then interview – OH will be at the top of the list for the interviews. So it looks fairly promising (but as I said to OH – nothing is guaranteed) but with the best will in the world I think it is going to be at least a month before he would actually start work there (assuming of course he gets through the interview).
So I have made it abundantly clear to him that he needs to find extra cash soon to tide him/us over. Having spoken to him about it on Saturday it would appear that he has at least got the money to pay the Halifax bill (due to be paid a week today) so that is something at least! Phew! Now that he has got the maths test out of the way he will have more time to concentrate on job hunting.
I am trying not to get too heavy with him at the moment – I am trying to keep it fairly light hearted. On Saturday I mentioned about how I would really like us to go camping during my 2 weeks off (I break up 2 weeks on Friday) and if I don’t get to go I am going to be unbearable to live with – which I will be! I am hoping this slightly different tactic might bear fruit!!
I didn’t get as much done over the weekend as I hoped because I was just too tired - I decided that my body was trying to tell me something so I decided to listen! I fell asleep on the sofa on Saturday afternoon and yesterday afternoon. I did manage to get some washing done and I even managed to do a bit of weeding in the garden yesterday (rather overdue!). However, I had planned to list some more books on Amazon but it just didn’t get done.
OH actually put up 2 blinds yesterday – one in our bedroom and one in the bathroom. Woohoo! About time too! However, it would appear that none of the others actually fit any of our windows (these were ones that our next door neighbours gave us). It doesn’t matter because at least the ones that actually needed replacing have been replaced – the ones at the front of the house which have been damaged by our cat using the windowsills as sentry posts.
At the end of last week I received my annual letter from student loans. If my monthly gross income is less than £2107 then I can defer (again) – as my total monthly gross income is a long way short of that (probably by about £500-£600) then I need to do my deferral forms. So I really need to fish out my last few (can’t remember whether it is 3 or 4) payslips and anything else I need and get that sent off. I wonder if I will ever have to start paying off my student loans – I will have to have a seriously big payrise for this to happen and that is not likely to happen any time soon! This is why I don’t even count them in my total debts.
Right then, today’s to-do list:
- Print off Avon returns form and parcel up returns.
- Finish cleaning kitchen and mop floor (if OH doesn’t beat me to it – ooh is that a pig flying by?!)
- List more stuff on Amazon
- Fish out documents for student loans deferral, ready to bring in to work tomorrow to photocopy.
- Cut DS’s hair – he has gone past the toilet brush stage and is now looking like a haystack!
