Hi All
Busy busy day today – trying to get things done as I am going to be out of the office for 2 days after today – 5th year exams this week so I shall be over at the hospital tomorrow and Thursday. On Friday we will be finalising (hopefully) placements for the resit students and then I have got to leave early Friday afternoon because I have got a meeting at DS’s school. So I have been trying to get as much done today as possible.
One thing I have been trying to get done is one of the things for my review meeting that I had last week. Although I came out of the meeting with a much better idea of what to do, it has still been really hard! It’s one of those ‘why I am brilliant’ type things – it’s like doing a job application! This could lead to a pay rise so I have got to try and make it is as good as possible. The other thing I have still got to do is go through my job description (which I have just updated) and try to work out percentages for the various parts of my job – that is not going to be easy! It’s not a case of ‘oh I do one day a week on that’ because I might spend the best part of a week on something (in between other stuff) and then not have to do anything much on it again for weeks. I suppose I am just going to have to try and work out averages.
OH has been on to the school again that he is trying to arrange to go to for a day before his interview next week. Again they said they would get back to him. So he has phoned another school now as a back up and we will see which one gets back to him first – if nothing happens tomorrow he might have to try another one. His interview is next Wednesday so he hasn’t got a lot of time. Oh well, at least if he has made a serious attempt to get into a school for a day before the interview, they can’t really knock him too much – he has got to do it before the interview if at all possible, or very shortly afterwards. It doesn’t help when people don’t return his phone calls!
I have done everything that I need to do and everything I can do and I am just waiting for someone to come and pick up the box of exam papers for tomorrow’s exam from me and then I can go home. I hope she doesn’t come too late – I want to go home!
I also really need to do my Avon order online tonight – I shall be too tired to even face it tomorrow night!
Also the Sainsbury’s shopping is coming tonight – I managed to finish off my order last night. I tried my very best to get it below £100 but it just wasn’t happening! I got it to £110 and couldn’t get it any lower! I suppose I could have managed it if I had cut out the beer but that would have been taking things too far! It is very cheap beer after all and will last us for the month. That’s my excuse and I am sticking to it!
I think that is all I have to report for now.

Hi all
Just a quickie as I am about to have my lunch.
Last week was soooo busy I was like a zombie by Friday! I had a very lazy weekend because I was absolutely exhausted, so didn't go near the computer!
I will do a proper update later (probably) but the big news at the moment is that OH is currently at his interview for his PGCE and I am waiting for the phone to ring to let me know how he has got on. Fingers very very tightly crossed for that!
Anyway, bye for now!PigginSkint's debt free diary

Hi All
I have had a nightmarishly busy week so I haven't been able to keep up to date with anything on MSE - including my own diary! I was even late home from work yesterday which is most unusual - on a Friday I like to get home at 'normal' time (about 5pm) if not earlier. The 5th years got their results yesterday and those that failed for the module I look after (47 of them! eek! ) seemed to all be phoning me and emailing me - my phone and inbox were red hot all afternoon! The trouble is they are all supposed to be starting their revision placements on Monday morning and for some of them it came as quite a shock - to say the least!
Anyway, I have currently got Amazon open in another window as I have got the 3 boxes of books that DS sorted out the other week to sort through and see if I can sell. So I am going to do as much as I can while OH is in the bath - when he gets out I will jump in! I think I will pop back on here from time to time, in between listing books, to try to update on everything that has been happening lately in the PigginSkint household.
Bye for now!PigginSkint's debt free diary

1 box down - 2 to go!
OH had his interview for his PGCE on Wednesday. He thinks it went well but it was a long day - he was there from 10:30am - 4:00pm. The day consisted of a talk, written tests, discussions about the texts they had written, some practical work and finally the interview. He has still got to do a day in a school, which will be assessed. He tried to get in to do that before the interview but the school he tried phoning wouldn't return his calls. So on Tuesday he actually went to another school and stayed until someone saw him - excellent! He happened to mention that his current boss used to be head of drama there so that probably helped! So they should be contacting him within the next few days to arrange something.
He has also booked his maths test (at the same University) and has bought the recommended texts for a penny each on amazon to swot up!
Fingers crossed.
If he gets in this time it will 9-5 every day with a fairly long commute so he won't have time to do much else. So he knows he will have to do as much as possible to earn some extra cash before he goes in.
Ooh, the bath is free so I am going to get in it now. See you later!PigginSkint's debt free diary

Phew! 3 boxes of children's books sorted and listed. I have now got one box full listed on Amazon - a lot for 1p each but as they are very small and light it is still worth doing because the postage won't be much. I found some real hidden gems - some where there were very few copies listed and at quite high prices so hopefully should make quite a bit from them. If they don't sell I can always drop the price - for now I have just matched the lowest price for all except one book. For that remaining one I matched the lowest price of a book in the same condition as the one I was selling.
I have another box full to go to charity - because either they weren't in good enough condition to sell or they just wouldn't have made enough to cover the cost of the postage.
There is another 1/2 box of those that are not either being sold or going to charity - because they are much too nice or real classic stories that we don't feel we want to part with!
It took over 2.5 hours to sort them but it should be worth it and at least that is one major job done now.PigginSkint's debt free diary

Hi All
Just a quick update as I shall be going home very soon.
Wasn’t it hot at the weekend?! Wow! Summer has come at last, albeit briefly!
OH roped me in to helping him with his Betterware yesterday – just putting books out but still quite time-consuming. I feel like I have got a bruised collar bone because the bag was so heavy. I think I shall have to fish out my trolley from the shed (bought when I used to do Betterware for just such a use!) for if I have to do it again, or, more to the point, when DS gets roped into helping (more likely). Those books are heavy and I don’t like to think of DS doing himself an injury trying to carry them!
Last weekend (i.e. not the one just gone) our lawnmower went up in smoke – it was quite old and it wasn’t a particularly expensive one anyway. So on Saturday we went to Argos to buy a new one. They didn’t have the one I wanted in stock (the cheapest Flymo hover). I couldn’t be bothered to wait until it was in stock or go for the really cheapo cheapo one (how often do you buy a lawnmower, after all?) so went for the next spec up - £49.99. I had £5 worth of nectar points so it actually cost £44.99 – I think I can live with that! I have still got enough in the emergency fund to cover that.
Oh well, better finish now as I am going home soon – I might update again later if I can prise OH off the laptop!
Bye all!PigginSkint's debt free diary

 OH really does my head in at times! I offered to help him with his Betterware (please note that word 'help' - it does not mean 'do half').
He decided that today was the day that he would start doing his deliveries - this evening rather than in the day so I could help him. I also mentioned to him yesterday that I had got a trolley in the shed that could be used (actually I mentioned this in relation to books because of the bag being so heavy - I've already mentioned this haven't I?). I got home about 5:30pm (because I called in at Aldi on the way home) and he said he wanted to start doing his deliveries at 6:10pm. I changed my clothes, had a quick sit down I mean quick) and went straight out to take DS's stuff to him.
By the time I got back it was 6:15pm. OH was outside will ALL his deliveries on the trolley (it is sturdy but not very big - it is designed for those with caravans etc for transporting big bottles of water and the like). The first thing he said was 'we should have left by now' (ooh! 5 minutes late!) and from then on it was blame me for everything. Even though I tried to help - like when the wind blew some of the order forms away. When he wanted me to actually do one of his deliveries for him (his first lot by the way) I had had enough. I had an Avon book to go and collect so I stormed off to go and get it. When I came back I passed him in almost the same spot as when I left him. I said that he had got far too many deliveries (that was my fault for telling him about the brilliant trolley - can you work that one out, I can't!) so I said I was going home so I would take some of his deliveries back with him to make it more manageable. He could then do the ones he had got and then come back to get the rest. He declined my offer. Obviously he has decided to be a martyr! So I said, fine, I have tried to help by making a perfectly sensible suggestion and he decided not to take it up, so I left him to it. His response? His idea of help is not the same as mine! !!!!!!!
I offered to help, not to do his job for him and as I had told him earlier, if he wanted my help he was going about it in entirely the wrong way. I have been to work all day - he hasn't! If he wants me to help it is not a good idea to have a go at me about every little thing!
Sorry - rant over!
I am hoping that by the time he comes home he will be suitably contrite! I told him that I expected an apology when he gets home. I don't feel guilty in the slightest - some of the things he said were unforgivable!
I don't feel upset at the moment, just angry!PigginSkint's debt free diary
