Feeling a bit sorry for myself at the moment. When I eventually got back to the station (long story - one train cancelled and the next one too packed to get on) I decided to have a quick peek at the cut on my hand. Good job I did really - I took one look and realised that I would have to go to hospital to get it seen to. So I splashed out and got a taxi (good job I don't make a habit of that). Anyway, I have now got 2 steri strips holding my wound together (TMI alert - to stop the muscle escaping) and a large plaster on it.

It is very sore and has been all day. So not feeling full of the joys of spring at the moment. 36_19_5.gif

  • Ooh! I'm intrigued! Which things are the same? I wonder if we are the same age as well - I am 36.

You just sound so like me! I'm 38, was married young to a waste of space (who owes me £6k in child support, but lets not even go there!). I used to be good with my money, but then life, a baby and a divorce soon sorted that out. I never thought that would be the way that life would turn out for me. I've been on my own for years, just me and DD, but a year ago I met a lovely guy. Luckily for me, he's much better with money than me and treats to me to meals, takeaways etc. Life is definately better now xx

PS Hope your hand is better

    Hi All

Well not really much to add to my update last night. Hand is still sore but I am managing to type! Putting my tights on this morning was a bit tricky though – it will definitely be trousers tomorrow!

I printed off my returns for Avon yesterday evening and my delivery came this morning. I think bagging it up and getting the books ready to go out will be a job for Thursday when I am off work (woohoo!!). I have realised that I will definitely need help with carrying everything this week as I have only got one hand that I can use for holding bags.

I have realised that I shall also need help to make DS’s birthday cake – I can see a cake making lesson coming up!

As I mentioned on the Party Season Challenge thread, we were very naughty and had Chinese last night. I really must learn to say no when OH suggests these things. I have to say, though, that it was really really yummy in the way that something is that’s a bit of treat anyway, you haven’t had for ages and when you are really really hungry!

I think I will have to get OH to make dinner tonight, on account of being slightly disabled at the moment! (Hee hee hee!!!)

I found the instruction booklet for my camera last night and put it in the box. I also found the note that accompanied it explaining that it was a different camera from the one that I had ordered (an upgrade) because of lack of stock. However, I forgot to bring the thing with me today – darn! Oh well, I shall just have to do that tomorrow.

Did not do anything re insurance last night (it was already late when I got home and couldn’t be bothered!) but will try to do today. If all else fails I will do it when I am at home on Thursday. I have just remembered that I meant to phone the Camping and Caravanning Club to see what they can offer – should be worth investigating. In any case I must sort it before the end of the week as I am now approaching the deadline – I have 30 days from the renewal date (1st October) to cancel my existing policy.

S’pose I had better get on with some work now. Bye all!

How strange is that! Whereabouts to do you live, by the way?(No need to be too specific!) I am in Staffordshire

Thanks for the good wishes about my hand - it's O.K. so long as I am careful what I do with it! :D

Blimey! I can’t believe I haven’t got round to updating before now!

DS came back from his Dad’s this morning and as I shall be late home tonight and so won’t see him I decided to stay at home until he arrived. He arrived just before 8:30am and I left at 9:00am so I didn’t get to work until 10:15am.

At lunch time I went to Argos in town to take my camera back – they exchanged it for me, no quibble. Excellent! I was fretting about it a bit seeing as it is 3 months since I bought it. So that’s one job done.

I saw the bit in the Guru’s newsletter today about Tesco giving 50% off home insurance – definitely one to follow up tomorrow methinks.

Well I think that’s all for now – what a boring life I lead!

Woohoo! I have finally managed to get into MSE! I have been getting withdrawal symptoms!

Lots to do today and going home soon so I shall try and do a proper update tomorrow.

    Hi All!

Well I think this is going to be a long one, seeing as it is a week since I did a proper update (grrrrr! to the trolls trying to attack this site! )

I have finally sorted out my home insurance – typical of me to leave it until right up until the last minute but at least I got it done in time. I shall now be paying about half what I was and because I did it through quidco I should get some cashback in due course. Woohoo!! :j

I suppose the next item on the agenda is the gas and electricity, so I shall set myself the challenge of sorting that out before the end of November.

OH has had 2 auditions this week, on Monday and Tuesday. Both were in London so he stayed overnight – far cheaper than having to buy a peak fare ticket! And he has got another audition next week. Fingers crossed.

My baby turned 13 on Saturday ( that makes me feel old) so went bowling with his friends. They had a good time even if the food was rubbish. OH and I sat in the bar and drank beer (so rare for us – to go to a bar I mean) but also didn’t like the look of the food, so we decided not to bother and get chips on the way home. This is what we did, but I had drunk 4 pints of lager on an empty stomach so OH and DS had to drag me up the road as I was slightly the worse for wear!!

We have still not heard about OH’s internet banking so I think I might have to nag him to chase that up soon – though no doubt we will hear before OH gets round to chasing it up!

Unfortunately I have had to transfer some money from my ISA into my savings account because the funds in said account were sadly depleted! It means I have now lost the bonus interest rate on my ISA and I am now down to the basic interest but hey ho! The chances of there actually being anything left in my ISA at the end of the tax year are slim anyway!

I am very pleased with my new camera and I have decided I actually prefer it to the previous one (it is a lower specification) because it is a lot less complicated!! I have invested in some more rechargeable batteries (the others appear to have grown legs and walked) because from past experience (with the one that broke) digital cameras seem to get through juice at an alarming rate!

Let’s see, what else do I need to update on…oh yes the weight loss! I am glad to say that the weight I put on I managed to lose again, so that’s a relief. Hope I lose some more this week…but I have had chocolate cake!!

Oh yes, I forgot to say, because of my poorly hand (which is a lot better now I am glad to say) DS had to make his own birthday cake. Obviously I supervised quite closely, but even so, he did a really good job. Perhaps a chef in the making?

Pay day was yesterday – woohoo!!!! :j I also got my Sainsburys delivery last night. It was larger than normal this month for a few reasons (a) I bought the ingredients for my Christmas cake and puddings which I intend to make soon (b) I added a little to the Christmas booze stock (c) I ordered plenty of breakfast cereal which means I shouldn’t have to restock before the end of November (d) I had to restock a few items that I only have to buy occasionally (e) I accidentally ordered some things twice – oops! :o

I think that’s all for now though I expect I have forgotten something. I am going to be here at work for a while longer yet because it is my course tonight, so I may well post again later!

    Bye all!
