Hi All

Well I had a fairly productive weekend. Not only quite lot of housework (see Hypno’s diary thread – the ‘get our houses reasonably tidy by Christmas challenge) including hoovering the whole of the front half of my living room (involving the moving of furniture – a totally alien concept as far as OH is concerned), but also shopping and Avon too!

I started doing my Avon deliveries on Saturday late afternoon – not a great time to do deliveries but it couldn’t be helped. I managed to get rid of most of the rest yesterday and hopefully the last remaining ones will go tomorrow when I try again. I got my books in on Saturday (plus a few stragglers yesterday) and put them back out again yesterday to collect tomorrow. This means that I don’t have to do anything Avon-wise today. Yippee!! I try not to do Mondays if I can get away with it and I very rarely do Fridays!

OH had to be up early on Saturday morning so I did as well. So it seemed a good opportunity to do an Iceland shop because I would be there in time to book a delivery for the afternoon – so that is what I did. So the freezer is nicely stocked up with cheap goodies again! Also I bought a load of fruit and veg off the market so then apart from a quick trip into Farmfoods to get some white vinegar (aka dishwasher rinse aid) for 50p (bargain!) I then went straight home. I have to confess that because my bags were so heavy I got the bus – I would normally have walked.

Oh, I almost forgot. I went to the dentist on Friday and they are making me a new mouth guard – for my lower teeth this time. I hope I get on with it a bit better than the other one! If that doesn’t work they will refer me to the dental hospital. Here’s hoping! To be honest, whatever works to get rid of the pain, the clicking and the ‘getting stuck’, I am up for!!

I am very very tired today because I did not sleep at all well last night. OH was late coming to bed last night as he was looking after the dishwasher and washing machine for me – DS’s school shirt had not washed properly so needed washing again but the dishwasher was already running at the time. We can’t run the dishwasher and the washing machine at the same time as they are plugged into the same extension lead, which has a tendency to blow a fuse if both are running. This means that we had to wait for the dishwasher to finish before switching the washing machine on. Then we had to wait for the washing machine to finish so that we could take DS’s shirt out and put it on the radiator so that it would be dry by morning. It was already late when this saga started (about midnight) and I had to be up early this morning which OH didn’t – he is a night owl anyway. So I went to bed and he did what had to be done – isn’t he lovely! Anyway, the point of this ramble is that because I was in bed for about 2 hours on my own I was really really cold, so couldn’t sleep anyway. Also I had earache again (referred pain from my jaw I think) which didn’t help.

Anyway, I think I have waffled on long enough.

Bye for now!!

Hi All

I can’t believe that I never got round to updating yesterday and it is now after 4pm and I am only just doing an update today.

Yesterday evening I finally got rid of the last of my Avon deliveries so I can now pay the rest of the money into my bank account. I will probably do that tomorrow.

OH has nearly got round to doing his internet banking – he has got as far as fishing out all the relevant paper work ready to do it. He promised me that he would do it this afternoon, when he gets back from work. Hmmmm… we will see! On Tuesday I used a slightly different tactic with him, I don’t know whether it will work but it was worth a try. I asked him what would be the best way for me to get him to do what I have asked him to do. His answer? ‘I don’t know!’ Very helpful! Oh well, perhaps it might have shamed him into doing it……perhaps!!

This morning I took DS to the doctors. When she asked what she could do for us today I said that DS needed some more cream for his eczema (which he knew about), more inhalers (ditto) and I wondered if perhaps he could have the flu jab while were there (which he didn’t know about!). Hee hee hee! Am I cruel? Anyway, I said to him, what would he have done if I had told him about it before – the answer is that he would have spent days fretting about it, so that’s why I didn’t tell him. 5 minutes fretting about it while waiting for the dr to fetch one was bad enough! I think he forgave me though!

My housework challenge is going reasonably well (see Hypno’s diary thread) – I have been trying to do a little bit every day. The front half of the living room still looks lovely after I blitzed it on Sunday – still needs dusting though. The washing is gradually getting done and the kitchen is not looking too bad – the floor badly needs doing though.

The weightloss challenge is also going quite well – I have lost 8 pounds so far. I don’t think I will manage a total of 21 by Christmas though, but I will give it a go and any weight loss is good! It also means more money off the Tesco card (£5 extra for every pound lost).

On the money side of things, I added a new column to my spreadsheet this week. On the credit cards page, I have worked out what is the priority order for paying cards off, with the APR being the most important criteria followed by the size of the balance. I wasn’t going to put the full list here, but actually I think I will:
• Egg – 17.9 % APR
• Tesco – 6.05% APR
• Halifax – 5.94% APR
• Amazon – 5.94% APR (smaller balance than the Halifax card)
• Sainsburys – 5.9% APR
• Capital One – 5.9% APR (smaller balance than the Sainsburys card)
• Intelligent Finance – 4.95% APR
• BA Amex – 4.9% APR
• Amex Blue 4.9% APR (smaller balance than the BA Amex card)

For my Virgin card and LTSB card I have put n/a because the Virgin card has a nil balance (actually, I have a credit balance of £9 but that’s another story) and the LTSB card will very soon have a nil balance. This is because I recently did a balance transfer off the LTSB card to another card, leaving £77ish on it. The 0% APR deal on it doesn’t run out until January so I have paid £40 this month and will pay £37 next month so it will be nil before the end of the year.

The other thing I should add is that the balance on the Egg card is rather higher than I would like at the moment. Hopefully, though, once OH gets his a**e in gear and sorts out his internet banking, it should be cleared within a few weeks, so I am trying not to get too upset about it at the moment!

The other exciting news I have to report is that the rest of my diary has reappeared – woohoo!!!! :j :j The techies at MSE Towers have my undying gratitude!! :smileyhea

Anyway, I suppose I ought to get on with some more work now – I shall be here late again because, being a Wednesday, I have my course tonight.

Bye all!

Hi All

Well, OH still hasn’t done his internet banking after he promised he would do it yesterday. He could have done this morning, but he didn’t. He is working this afternoon and rehearsing this evening so I think I shall insist that he does it before he goes to his rehearsal - if he’s got time to spend a couple of hours or more a night on Facebook I am sure he has got time to set up his internet banking, which will probably only take a few minutes. Can you all tell that this is really p***ing me off now?!

Our boiler was serviced this morning, for the first time in 2 years – it really needs doing once every 12 months but we never got round to doing it last winter. The service cost £65 but that is a darn site cheaper than a new boiler! Also OH paid so that made it better for me – hee hee hee!!! :D

Paid the rest of my Avon money into my account today – unless there is any still lurking at home that is!!! This evening I have got to go out to try and get the last few books in that I wasn’t able to get back on Tuesday and put the rest back out again – luckily they are all ready to go so it shouldn’t take too long really.

Nothing else to report today, so I suppose I’ll get on with some work.

Bye all!!

Hi All

Thank Crunchie it’s Friday!! In fact, I have just had one, and very nice it was too!!

Blimey it’s been so busy today that in fact it is nearly time to go home.

OH still hadn’t set up his internet banking when I got home yesterday but he was obviously so knackered and still had to go out to rehearse last night, that I didn’t nag him too much. I did ask him to do it this morning, but whether he did or not is another matter!!

Tonight is not exactly going to be a relaxing one as we are going to an 80th birthday party – I could have done without it actually, because I am really really tired myself. But it is not likely to go on too late so I suppose that’s not so bad.

Oh well, I’ve got a couple of things to finish off before I go and a cup of tea to drink so I had better get on.

Have a good weekend everyone!

• Oooh crunchies! Now I have a desperate urge for one!

A least your OH is (sort of) willing to set up online banking. My OH wouldn't have a clue. He is quite happy to not know anything about our finances. He even failed a security check at the bank because he couldn't name even one direct debit that came out of his account (not even the mortgage or council tax or HIS pension!!).

Enjoy your party - hopefully it won't be too riotous, lol!
• Hi PS, how are things with you? xx

Hi All

What a weekend it has been! The party on Friday was an absolute rave:rolleyes: ...not really! The band was rubbish for one thing! It wasn't that bad really - the food was nice, there were people we knew there (not many I grant you!) and we didn't have to stay long - about 2 hours!

I have had a bit of a cold for a while but on Saturday morning I woke up feeling absolutely dreadful and felt that way on Sunday and Monday, so I didn't got to work yesterday or today - I do feel a lot more human today. I don't think it was anything more than a cold but I have had the full works and have been feeling very very sorry for myself. I feel a lot better now - still a bit snuffly and there is definite aroma of Vick's Vaporub surrounding me! All being well I should be back at work tomorrow.

OH has not yet done his internet banking but hopefully today. He has had a horrendous weekend work-wise and so banking was not exactly the most pressing thing on his mind. He is no longer doing the panto he was supposed to be doing - he has resigned. The direction is virtually done and so he has handed the baton over to the co-director. Also he had an understudy for the part he was playing who is more than capable of doing the part for all the performances. The unprofessional behaviour of certain members of the cast (particularly the leading man!) has been really getting him down and came to a head over the weekend. Then at the rehearsal on Sunday one of the other members decided to have a bawling match with OH (note my wording!). After a virtually sleepless night on Sunday night OH decided enough was enough - he has been getting increasingly stressed as the weeks have gone on and it has been starting to make him ill - so he resigned. He was so much more relaxed yesterday so it was obviously the right decision. He is still very tired though.

Bye for now!
