With anything thick, it's best to allow gravity to help as much as possible, so hang with the smallest bit at the bottom (in this case, if you can do it at an angle so that there is one corner at the bottom), so the water can all congregate there. As the water drops, you can help it more by a few squeezes as it dries, so it's best to put the airer in the bath. Once it has become reasonably dry, use your airing cupboard if you have one.0

I have dried them before by putting our airer out on the flat roof on a sunny day - we don't have a clothes line or drier either!Trust me - I'm NOT a doctor!0

Hi Guys
Thanks to you all for your advice..
We have no airing cupboard, no roof, the only "outside bit" we have is a shared courtyard which is also shared with an accountants and a cafe so dont really like drying stuff out there.
Thanks zippychick for pointing out the other thread

On the pillow it suggests 40 degree water temperature any tips regarding the settings for the washer and the dryer would be very welcome. don't put the pillows in any old how.
Roll them up like a Swiss roll cake and put through the porthole so they expand and line the edge of the drum. This way the drum spinning won't tie them in knots.A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0 -
I washed 8 `expensive` super comfort pillows in the past 3 months. My machine has a pillow wash programme and washes at 40 with more rinsing water. I wash 2 at a time, loading like owain says. Most important is drying and I have a very hot utility room, when ch is on and they dried on string lines in 36 hours0

I do mine once a year. In a domestic machine, I think one at a time is plenty. Aside from the space issues, these things soak up a lot of water, getting heavy in the process. If you cram two in you may find there isn't enough water for them both and cleaning results are disappointing.
If you can wash them at 60 degrees it will kill the dust mites. Either way, go for a long cycle with extra rinse if you can. No point scrimping on this step for something that is washed relatively infrequently. The big time investment is the drying, not the washing anyway. I've found that good detergent matters, so usually use persil liquid tabs and a scoop of oxy powder as this freshens things well. When you take them out, plump them back to their best shape and place somewhere warm with good airflow, for example on a slatted rack near a radiator, as if they dry too slowly they can develop a stale smell.0 -
Hi viv,
As your thread has dropped down the board I've added it to our main washing pillows thread where you'll find more advice.
