Original opening poster back on with his payout.

Scottish Widows 40k endowment over 25 years.Had been paying £53.60 a month.I received today £26,562.11.Over the 25 years I paid in just over 16k , so in one respect it is not too bad.

Still remember though the bank manager 25 years ago saying to my future wife and I that we would double our money.

How naive we were when we were younger :D

    Me too!!:(

Don't think age is relevant mate for 25 year endowment policies.Ours is April 1988 to May 2013 and we pay £53.60 a month.Looks like it has done slightly better than yours.Wonder if your low start initial payments though rising to a bigger payment has cost you ?

we had a L&G policy pay out in 2011. £43k life cover, it paid out £42,200. BUT we paid in a lot as it was a low start policy (premiums increasing in the first 5 years.

Total paid in, just over £20,000. Average monthly payment was £66.78.

Compared to a SL policy just matured. Target amount £21,200. Actual amount £13,800. Premiums £27.71 -£8313 in total.

    Good morning everyone

I have a couple of Endowments maturing next month and have not yet received notification of amounts due.

Standard Life and Allied Dunbar (now Zurich).

Does anyone have any idea how they are doing?

Once I get my figures I will post them for anyone who is interested.

In the meantime I just wondered if anyone had had a recent payout.

You should be able to know. Allied Dunbar only offered unit linked funds. So, any recent statement should give you an indication. Standard Life offer variations of with profits funds over the years as well as unit linked. So, again, a recent statement should give you an indication.

Recent payouts by others wont help you unless they happened to be invested in the exact same funds with the exact same target growth rate over the same period. Your statements are the best guide.

    Thank you.

I think the Zurich statement should be roughly about right because as you say it is unit linked.

However, the Standard Life Endowment is with profits, with an additional terminal bonus, therefore the last statement is not an effective guide. I just wondered how terminal bonuses were doing.

I guess I'll just have to wait and see.

Don't forget to add in the value of the shares and dividends you've had so far.
    IANAL etc.
  • Just noticed this thread so my figures are a year out but my 25 year Endowment Policies matured last year with a payout of c£30K against a £27000 sum borrowed so a little profit. Plus I got about £1500 for mis-selling.
    This was with Prudential.

Does that include their MEP(Mortgage Endowment Promise )?
