OH dear theres some born every minute!! and that includes Me,

I knew I should of done a net search 1st,

well i called YES LOANS, after completing an online application that was successful!!!! i could hardly understand the CSR i was talking to sounded like he had a whole apple stuck in his mouth,

anyway after going thru a few details i asked what the repayments and interest would be, when he replied " i will have to do a security check 1st to confirm you are who you say you are so will need to take some details"

so i thought oh ok, so then he asked me for the name on my debit card to which i gave him but then he asked for my card number!!!

which i thought was suss! so i said i would rather not give that out, so he asked for my bank acc number and sort code, so i did give him that

anyway to wind up he went thru everythnig then said im successfull and need to take £69 from my card to process the apllication and then pass me onto the finaince company (who apparently where sitting right next to him:mad:)

but i declined and said i would rather think about it, so he then transferred me anyway without the payment, but the lady he transfered me to just went thru the same dtails, and said the loan company ( everydayloans ) where not open today but they will call me monday

anyway ive read thru all the posts here and seems ive got the same deal, but thankfully i did not give them my cc number

my only question is can they do anything with my bank details, as i have not signed or verbally agreed any DD agreement??

least i have learnt a valuable lesson, and hopefully with out cost,.

    Dear Sir/Madam
I am writing to you to request that my account is debited with £69.50 less the £5.00 you are able to take. This was taken by you from Debit Card number XXXX XXXX XXXX **** in the name of *******Butler on 13 July 2009 after I was ‘mis-sold’ a loan by yourselves. I agreed to the taking of the fee mentioned above as I was told by your ‘advisor’ of a loan for which I had been approved for, only to be later sent confirmation of a loan costing 4 times the amount that was agreed. I would appreciate it if the money was refunded to the above account, which details you should still hold or a cheque is sent to me. I look forward to your response within the next 7 - 14 days. Should you fail to do so, I will have no option but to report YES Loans Ltd to the Office of Fair Trading to whom you are licensed by.

    Regards
    Butler

That was what i sent recorded delivery
  • Hi

I recently got sucked into the scam that is YES loans. I stupidly paid the £69.50 fee, only then to read the reviews and then started panicking. I was then bombarded with phonecalls from different companies who offered me a loan at a ridiculous repayment level!! I then twigged YES loans were a broker and had lied. Anyway, I was adamant I was going to get my money back. This is how I did it:

    1) DO NOT RING THEM - you will end up in a queue forever, the call will be terminated without an "advisor" answering and it will cost you a bomb

    2) I sent an email politely asking for a refund, stating I was well within my 14 day "money back guarantee" etc. If anybody wants a copy of the letter please let me know. I also sent it as a written letter by recorded first class post.

    3) A week later - no reply email, no reply letter, not even an acknowledgement, so I went to the next level and with no messing about lodged a formal complaint with the Financial Ombudsman. I received all the documentation from the ombudsman who stated they had contacted YES loans informing them of my complaint.

    4) I also sent a second letter and email to YES loans informing them that I had launched an official complaint - that letter was dated the 14th June I think

    5) I've just got home from work to find a cheque from YES loans for the FULL amount (they are apparently allowed to charge a fiver, but I got the full £69.50 back!!!). AND I even got an apology letter!!

It is certainly worth persevering. Don't expect an acknowledgement email/letter, but as soon as you launch a complaint and threaten to take it further, then you will hopefully get your money back. Please please please nobody ever use these cowboys! I certainly won't be making this mistake again with ANY company!!
Let me know if you want any more advice!!

Sigh.....yep, I got scammed by them too.

To be fair, I didn't agree to the fee at all. The passing of card details for verification (as they claim) occurred, and then later on they vaguely mentioned that they would need a fee to arrange finance, they did not say it would be then and from that card. No finance was arranged, so I thought I was okay. Then I noticed the money gone from my account.

So yep, I'm going through the same old same old. Try to call them, you're on hold forever, unless you go through to sales of course, who answer straight away.

So the letter has been sent, and I'm quite certain I'll get my money back, but I could do without the effort. A lesson learned the hard way I guess.

I got a call from them last week, told them I wasn't interest (as I had seen this thread, never told them that), as I thought they were a rip off. The guy started swearing at me down the phone. :)
  • I've just come across this thread on a 5 minute browse. I fell for Yes Loans awhile ago BUT got my money back minus £5. I sent my first letter:

    Yes Loans Ltd.
(Sorry haven't got the rest of the address)

    Dear Sir/Madam,
Please accept this as my formal request for monies owed back to me, totalling £64.50 (£69.50 minus £5 fee), paid on 26 April 2009 by Visa Credit Card for services not used/rendered. This is in accordance with Yes Loans terms & conditions section 10.
I look forward to receiving my cheque within 30 days.
    Yours sincerely,

    Signed digitally

That got no response. I consequently sent the following:

    Yes Loans Ltd.

    Dear Sir/Madam,
You promised me a service in April 2009 which you did not supply. I wrote to you on 26th September 2009 to reclaim monies owed to me according to your terms & conditions, which you have not answered.
If you do not pay me the money (£64.50) by 30th November 2009, I will issue a county court claim against you.

    Yours sincerely,

    Signed digitally

    Cheque came pretty quick!

Hope this helps anyone out there with their fight against these scummy windbags!!
I've got nothing else but I've got my family.
