I saw the small print (which incidentally is different for different hotels in the group), but I inferred that to mean you'd have to pay £25 for a bed for any additional children, not for the one you'd already put on the booking.

I don't understand why a hotel would offer only one double bed when you've clicked to book for 3 people.

    It's a poor site.

I totally agree with you, however that doesn't change that the important information for you is present during the booking process. I do agree that they should change the page to be show all rather via a drop down tab.

You should basically format that sort of response to Radisson rather than tell them the information doesn't exist during the booking process.

To me a "standard room" (in a hotel) contains exactly one double bed or two twin beds. In fact, I would be quite annoyed if I turned up and found my room was full of beds I neither requested nor had any use for.

If I required more than the normal number of beds in one room I would look for a "triple", "family" or "dormitory".

To say you were charged for the child is disingenuous as the child's accommodation (and, presumably, breakfast) was included in the price you were quoted. What you were charged separately for was an extra facility for use by the child.
  • If I book a room for 2 adults and a child -like say for example on the Hilton website, then the room offered is a room that will accommodate all those entered on the booking. I would not expect to then be presented with additional charges on arrival at the hotel. Yes it is in the smallprint but it shouldn't be.

    no breakfast...

and an extra facility used by the child? Honestly I'm really amazed by this.....if I book for two adults and a child and get a quote.... I expect the quote to be for two adults and a child...... IF they want to charge more for the child, then QUOTE it with the price , that's fine!! .. why hide it under surcharges??? It asked how many people./. I said how many people.... it quoted .. I accepted..... why ask if there is a child at all then??

And you got exactly that. A quote for 2 adults and 1 child.

You were not asked, nor billed for, how many beds you wanted.

So if you'd booked a room for two adults and there was just a single bed in there, you'd be OK with that?

The OP booked a room for three people, and it's not unreasonable to expect a bed space for each of them.

The room accommodated all those booked, without a surcharge.

It was not in the small print, but in the room description. Required reading for anyone booking a room, I would have thought.

Proof, if needed, that women just cannot understand logic.

A "standard" room contains a double (or twin) bed, regardless of how many people occupy that room. If there was just a single bed there would be a case to answer.

I am not disagreeing that those aged six or under are not technically speaking "people" they are, by concession, not charged for as such by the hotel ... unless they require their own facilities.

I was, at one time, the father of 4 kids under the age of 6. Could I have reasonably expected a hotel to provide a "standard" room with 1 double and 4 single beds without extra charge?

The OP got exactly what she ordered. No case to answer.

so now we get the sexist remarks.... this site just gets better and better :)

ok, so under your obviously BRILLIANT logic why actually PUT a box asking you if there are two adults and how many chkldren there are... why not just say, standard room...X amount. and give a quote and THEN ask if you have children and SAY that it will be more when you say yes.??

If I'm asked, and given a quote having told them, then I expect all the people I've jsut told them to be in the quote... If this isn't the case, then why on earth does every other hotel I have EVER booked at do this?

I'm not saying that I wasn't stupid in not reading the room description... but I'm DIFINITELY not willing to just say ;oh yes, it's fine, give me a quote without the one person you jsut asked me about' and say it's down to women not understanding logic....

I understand it alright, I understand that had it actually quoted what I asked them, ie 2 adults and a child... I may have booked the hotel next door that gave me the FULL quote for the THREE of us. that was only a tiny bit more money....

    Thank you 2sides2everystory
