I think the so called green taxes have alot to answer for. Alot of the old factories and manufacturing industries had such pressure to conform to all these different rules and regulations that they became seriously uncompetetive, combine this with countries around the world who don't give a damn about polution or CO2 levels (china and india I'm looking at you and you friends) and our none existant pride in british products (alongside weak governments non of which were prepared to do anything about the flood of cheap imports in so many areas) led to the demise of all those manual jobs that traditionally many of the "working class" did.
The big joke is based on the imports we use and those countries CO2 production the UK's carbon footprint is higher now than it was 20 years ago.
TBH immigration is a bit of a red herring the problem isn't training people to do skilled work its been the wholesale export of unskilled work abroad.

Our education system only teaches students to pass exams, nothing else.

I was in Indonesia last week and on Monday I walked through a
huge shopping mall which was almost totally deserted. when I
asked someone why they said "it's Monday, everyone's at work!"
As NO party can cut the benefits system to a level where work is the norm
for the underclasses were stuck with a slow decline as we are overtaken by Asian countries (and good luck to them).
Agreed, and like I said "tough love"
Those on welfare that are fit and healthy will work if they are put in a postion where they have no choice, but use the carrot more than the stick if possible.0 -

We seriously need some tough love in this country, and why should we poach what could be badly needed doctors from third world countries that might badly need them also.
We have an educational system in this country that is second to none, it's time we become more self suffient with our own people.
Bringing and an expert indian cook or Polish landworker into an already over crowded UK is just not on, and I am aslo talking about the the more skilled as well.
I agree with a lot of what you say, but the reality is that it takes time to re-equip the workforce with the right skills. When I say time I mean generations as you can only really do this with education.
In the meantime businesses are suffering and not growing as fast as they can. This is an undeniable fact.
Edit: It is our education system that is the problem. It has allowed 25% of people in the Birmingham area to become functionally illiterate! (I was shocked at that statistic).0 -
Foxy, I would have thought your views on immigration would be a bit pedestrian for UKIP. Have you considered the English Defence League?
No I have not wotsthat/troll,
Would not consider a right wing extreme party ever, I don't want to see anyone hurt.
But of course that is not the answer you want from me, keep up the trolling:):)0 -
I find the whole concept of politics completely pointless.
Party A is in power, and they say we should do X.
Party B has to disagree. They can't sit there and say, "Ooh yes good idea". Even if X was a great idea, it's in Party B's best interests to say it's bad.
For that reason politics in it's entirety is detrimental to everyone and everything.
Have you ever watched a coverage from parliament? It's like a playground argument.
Maybe there is something to be said for these smaller parties.
When I first came into Parliament, Mr. Tierney, a great Whig authority, used always to say that the duty of an Opposition was very simple—it was to oppose everything and propose nothing.

While i agree there is some need for skilled immigrants,it is a fact that many come into the country with no skills or qualifications, these are not needed we have many of our own unskilled.0

Stuff the right time, I used to say that when I was trying to give up smoking many years ago, or when having a child, it is never the right time.
What we need is to shut the doors on our borders, and get our own lazy population to come up too scratch one way or another, if the economy suffers in the short term so be it.
We need a political leader that has a bit of the drill sergeant in him, who drags most of the 3 million idle into some kind of usefull existence.
Our economy is NOT the most important thing to the British, it is just important, our people are the most important.0 -

As far as I am aware the UKIP's central policy is withdrawal from Europe. I didnt realise they had anything sensible to say on controlled immigration.
It's difficult to tell as the only time I have seen them in action is on the tele when occasionally some foaming at the mouth late middle aged man will be ranting in Brussels about how they're all foreigners.
It's difficult to take your views very seriously in any case, as you seem to be against all immigration. There is definitely a case for substantially curbing unskilled labour and many countries like Australia have been doing this for years.
We now currently have a much stricter visa regime, which is doing its best to throttle legitimate student visas by lumping them in alongside unskilled chain immigrants.
Anyway its food for thought, next time a blue chip company wants to employ and executive or a top university would like to employ a leading academic from overseas; they should just find an unemployed school leaver instead.
Great idea.0
