    Evening all!

I'm sooo pleased! My PPI claim was credited to my account today and I had planned that I would have to pay just over £1K in tax but phoned HMRC and I had calculated it wrong! (now I know why I've been in debt for so long :rotfl:) Anyway I only owe £600 tax and they are just changing my tax code to get the money which means the whole amount (just under £4K) goes straight to debt!

I've made the payments tonight so my new totals are:

    8,391.73/10,678.72

It means I only have just over £2K to go!!

    A really chuffed Katie!!! :j

Running off to update my signature!

    x

    Wow, well done :T:T:T:beer:

Well done Katie that's fantastic :) I really admire that you didn't have the urge to splurge, I seem to recall spending quite a bit of my PPI refund on a deposit for my current flat, oh well!!!

I came home today to find a letter from my CC (whom I have paid off this week) with the words "congratulations!" they've decided that because I manage my account soooo well that they're going to increase the limit to £1500 from £500. How they think that'll help I have no idea, considering they charge about £35 for a £500 limit a month, I'd hate to think what the interest is on the £1500 *gulp*. Anyway, it does mean that when I want to buy any big purchases I can use the cc and then pay it straight off with savings *when I have some of course* and takes off some pressure for booking flights for my housemates wedding in Canada in September, which is when I shall be trying to put down a deposit on a rental flat in Cardiff. I'm still going to try to save both flight money and deposit, but will give me a little leaway and be a nice cushion should I need it.

I wouldn't be able to afford to pay off a £1500 limit in one month though, it's just tooo high, how irresponsible of them!

That happened to me with my H$BC student credit card! 500 to 1500 then up again to 3000 without me asking! I do use it but pay it off in full now. Make sure I get my section 75 protection.

Kerri would you not be better getting a 0% on purchases card for the flight ? or a cashback card maybe rather than knowing you'll need to pay interest.

I don't want to have anymore searches on my credit file as I'm trying to build my credit rating back up high enough to get a mortgage in the next 5 years. If I pay the card back before the bill due date then I won't incur any interest, I am quite shocked at how much interest it would be if I weren't a savvy MSEer now :) had they given it to me 12 months ago I'd have splashed the cash and be in a lot more debt than I am currently in.

Kerri - I must admit I have kept £200 for a bit of retail therapy and I've just ordered a take away to celebrate :rotfl:

I always made darned sure I didnt have PPI on my finance (always alot of 'what do I want that carp for, it ain't worth the paper its printed on') only 1 card had it bacause they wouldnt supply the card without it and it was so long ago I cant remember who it was . . . ive been shuffling 0%'s for 10 years now, I dont think theres a card out there I havent owned :o
