Hi everyone, my efforts at emptying the house have come to a standstill at the mo as I am unwell with a chest infection.
Quick question please. This may sound daft bu our filing is rubbish!!! Please can someone give me insight into a basic filing system for personal and business. This would be very much appreciated. Thank you in anticipation.GE 36 *MFD may 2043

Ive got a meccano set (one of the original ones), some old building bricks my dad used to play with and then I did at grans, and a magic set.........all sorts of stuff in there. Not sure whether it was Dads or my brothers but I don't have the heart to part with it.
Meccano also sells on Ebay, check out the old sets, you might get a shock :eek:You're only young once, but you can be immature forever0 -
This also sells for very high prices at local auctions - even the weekly household type ones.......0

well i've sold 1 dvd so far and have two others being watched. Wish there's a way to find out if something has been viewed. Actually just think i have and i've just managed to find out how to put lots more details about it into the search categories.
Well i no longer have a visit from the vicar tomorrow night so i have a night in which i can do some tidying. I've got thursday off and OH arrives i the evening so have time to make his valentines card and gift.0 -
I am all photo'd out. But they are now all sorted into those 7 crates.
I have 2.5 crates worth which may have some value to other people and I'm trying to get rid of those first. Then I'll have a think about how to approach the rest.
It was completely mind-numbing but I feel glad I've done that first pass today, getting it started was probably the worst bit. Now I can get into chucking phase which is what I do best
Of my 4 remaining vinyl LPs, one has been listed on ebay and the other 3 chucked - decided I couldn't be bothered with attempting to save those 2 tracks after all
Waiting for someone to collect a hoover from me from Freecycle - why on earth was I keeping a "spare" hoover? :rotfl:
Listed a few more things on ebay - 80 items on the go now, all ending Sunday night. Up to £135 so far! Bids on 15 items, and 136 people watching 41 items so it's looking pretty decent!
Tattycath and Cat64, I will post tomorrow about how I do my filing and perhaps you'll find something usefulHope you feel better in the morning Tatty.
Good night x0 -

Hi TattyCath - Hope you feel better in the morning.
I did have a filling system that was two metal containers with sections containing all current files. Anything over a year went into a large gusset C4 envelope with the year written on the front, and short details of what was in the envelope on the back. I bought a cheap batch of gusset envelopes from a stationers, and they all went into a box in the loft.
I did pass the filing over to my wife (8 years ago) who wanted to take over and since then I haven't a scooby where bills, insurance docs, pensions etc are these days. There is paperwork in most drawers and boxes and my two metal containers now contain old lifestyle magazines and recipes along with other toot. This is where most of my decluttering comes into it.
My wife (bless her cotton socks) is not one of the best organised people at home and I go with the flow otherwise I would have had a heart attack by now!
It makes it fun when I have to collate all my information for the tax return as it becomes a paperchase......
If I was still in control of the paperwork I would do as others suggest and scan documents in onto disc especially documents that are more than a couple of years old but I have as much influence over my wife's filling habits as I do with the many cats that convenience themselves in my garden !!
As you can tell, I may control the finances but I definitely don't wear the trousers!!Gordon Brown ate my hamster0 -
Hi everyone! Have managed to condense 3 large boxes of paperwork down to one, sure there is lots more to get through but its a start. Thanks missyg, will look forward to hearing how you manage your filing coz I need to start some sort of system with the stuff I have left. I laughed when I read your post as I too have a 'spare' hoover, donated by my MIL. I will freecycle it when I can find all the bits to it:o.
djbd1973, your wife sounds like me :rotfl:Scanning sounds like a good idea but I'm useless with computers, how exactly does it work? Does it mean you store documents on your computer instead of on paper?? (sorry to be thick).AMAZON SELLERS CLUB MEMBER 0082 :hello:0
