Buggins there is a board called Ebay, Auctions, Car boot & Jumble sales. I think it has a thread with advice about how to sell on ebay. Sorry can't do linky things. HTHNothing is so fatiguing as the eternal hanging on of an uncompleted task. William James0

Haven't done any decluttering this week!tut tut. nearly 36wks pregnant now though and NO energy! All the stuff i put on ebay last week though has made £50 before postage etc so am really pleased, only thought i'd makehalf that! Going to open a savings account and any money i make through decluttering will go in there to help pay for xmas. Hubby has an email from a money site though this wk saying ebay are going to hike up their fees by 40%! Don't know when it starts though.grocery challenge jan 17 £ / 350.000

Not done any intentional decluttering this week - kids off ill again (will it never end?), but I do have someone hopefully coming later today to pick up a great load of my freecycle stuff - they just said 'we'll take everything', so I assume they're a booter, but seeing as no-one else has replied for any of it, they can have it - I just want my hallway back lol.DFW Nerd no. 884 - Proud to [strike]be dealing with[/strike] have dealt with my debts0

Oh, BTW Dobs - I don't know about the price hike (although wouldn't put it past them), but there are big discussions on the eBay community right now about them wanting to stop sellers having the ability to leave negs and neuts.DFW Nerd no. 884 - Proud to [strike]be dealing with[/strike] have dealt with my debts0

Hi everyone
Hope you're all having a good weekend! I reckon Saturday is the 'main' day of the week for decluttering judging by all the extra offers on Freecycle!
Mary43, how are you doing? I hope you sorted your holiday entitlement out!
Djbd1973, I have to admit you are probably right about me being slightly addicted to "organising" (don't really like the term "decluttering" cos I'm not cluttered in the first place). It goes in phases with me though, I'll do loads for a while and then nothing at all.
There is a point to it though. When I retire, I would like to take a couple of years out (maybe longer), sell my house and go travelling. I see myself either living in a motorcaravan or perhaps staying in holiday apartments for a few weeks at a time in various places, then downsizing and settling into a small place eventually, wherever that may be. Buying less stuff, living with less stuff, watching the savings grow, gives me a sense of freedom. It's that part I'm a bit addicted to, I think.
Little Miss Naughty, a whole room for selling is a great idea! Have you started listing the stuff on ebay yet? Your post inspired me to clear a shelf in my big cupboard for selling (not quite a whole room) but at least it gets most of it off the office floor!
Pigpen, how are your items doing on ebay? Tomorrow is the final day I guess! I was up to £65 in bids last time I checked which is not bad! I've since listed one high value item, because ebay are changing their fee structure soon as I'm sure you know. I've been thinking about selling this item for a while and knowing that I'll be worse off on final value fees if I wait, gave me the push to do it now! (Already had one person wanting to complete off-ebay , uh, no!) Like you, I'm already identifying things for next time too! :rotfl:
Hi Dobs, I didn't realise your baby was due so soon! Well done on the ebaying, not surprised you are running out of steam, you should definitely try to take things a bit easier before the baby comes along! All the best for the birth!
Hi Earthmother, hope your kids are better soon. I wish someone had said they'd "take the lot" from my latest Freecycle post! I've had a right mish-mash of replies including people that want me to call them, and one who said they had no transport, gave me their address and a list of the items they wanted and said "kindly send them to me"!!! At least one person was polite and is coming to get some of it - I don't feel like chasing around after the others so I will probably look elsewhere to re-home the stuff!
This week I have done my son's room, it's all sparkly and lovely now (which won't last), and the kitchen sort out has paid dividends because I was able to stock up on offers like never before during the grocery shop, as I have lots more convenient storage space for it!
Today I'm going to start preparing the packaging for the ebay items which already have bids, Monday's going to be a busy day with packing, labelling etc. Anyone got any workflow tips for preparing loads of parcels at once?0 -

Thanks - I think they're about well again - trouble is hubby and I are now feeling flu-y
There are some awful people on freecycle aren't there. I've been fairly lucky this time around - no no-shows, lots of polite emails - but normally I seem to end up with the internet equivalent of 'the nutter on the bus' or Mrs Bucket/Bouquet.
As to bulk packaging - I normally start by writing/printing all my address labels, then start with all one type of package (be it bubble envelopes, mailing sacks, boxes...). I have my big shoppers/Ikea bags under the table, and everything gets dropped in as it's packed, with SignedFor slips attached where necessary (get a supply from the PO beforehand).
I haven't done much bulk selling at this house - no-where to keep it all - but at our old place I pretty much had a room to myself for it all, so I could get quite a production line going at times.DFW Nerd no. 884 - Proud to [strike]be dealing with[/strike] have dealt with my debts0 -
Missyg, my ebay stuff seems to have taken off the last couple of days.. I have 27 things with bids (of the 120) and to to £141.58 in bids.. I am REALLY pleased.. I was hoping for about £100 but have gone way over that.. plus I have loads of watchers on many of the items which hooefully will leap into action in the final minutes. One item has 24 watchers.. and my old DM's are £23.. if you have nay get them listed!
I think ebay are just starting to take advantage of their name and popularity.. but I'll just move elsewhere to sell stuff.. ebid for example have much lower fees but they will just become more popular as ebay get greedier and greedier!!
Hopefully one of my boxes of listed items will be emptied and then I can list my next 2 boxes!!
I have a binbag flying off to charity shop later, which will clear a tiny space in my bedroom!LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
Well, my freecycler has just been - I can now see the hall carpet (they did really take everything - yay!).
Already got another bundle of stuff gathering in the conservatory, so think I'll list that in a couple of days, once I've finished gutting the kitchen.DFW Nerd no. 884 - Proud to [strike]be dealing with[/strike] have dealt with my debts0
