Really pleased with myself as I have sorted some of my craft materials and have freecycled to a local kids craft group a large box of papers , embellishments etc.,
We don't need to do it perfectly - good enough is exactly that GOOD ENOUGH.

Well, I started my big declutter yesterday (After downsizing over 18 months ago:rolleyes: ) So with dh, and 2 ds and a 2 bed house we have been in a pig sty for a long time.... Too many toys..... too many clothes.... too many tins of paint (never used since move...never gonna use:o ) Too many toiletries.... etc etc the list goes on and on.

I have been on the flylady group for a while and do some bits, then get fed up and lapse back into I CANT BE BOTHERED MODE!!

But am determined this time (LOL) so yesterday

IN: 2 nick goodie bags from cinema

OUT: Toy BBQ(not been played with), 6 bags of kids clothes ( ), All the Paint (except one tin of cream to touch up mucky finger marks and the odd art work from son number 2), Half the tools out of tool box (I had 5 hammers?? :rotfl: ) 3 carrier bags of plastic food, 2 carrier bags of cars, 4 peices of old wood, one broken kids arm chair, 2 bags of my clothes, 2 wine racks (hasn't had wine on it for months (I drink it too quick  ), 2 boxes of pots, pans, glasses, kitchen utensils, 2 bags of books (Been read to death)

Oh and 8 bags of rubbish

but my house still looks like ww III has broken out, I know Flylady says baby steps and 15 min at a time but I feel so much better with all that stuff out It makes me want to get on and finish. Still got loads too do though.

Need to finish going through the kids bedroom, and ours And the LOFT:eek: . Then when all the clutter has gone I can think about the deep clean and shining my sink!

    :o:o

Well I'm back from a few days away with my parents and have gained almost all of the rest of my childhood possessions from their house, some new clothes (mum took me shopping ;)) and some books, but gave them some books and a few other things too so not too bad, and some of the childhood things are to be cleaned and sold.

Before I went I did my make up sorting as planned - a couple of lipglosses, 3 mascaras ( 2minis) some nail files and a couple of other bits went in the bin and there's a pile of things I don't think I'll use too.

Last night a did a pants sort - 8 pairs out and 5 new pairs in.

Tonight's sort is socks and tights - it's all very little things but it'll give me a better idea of what I've got, what I need to get and will probably be able to get rid of some to give me more room.

It's all little areas and baby steps but our house isn't too bad - big things wise - and hopefully keeping on top of all these little things will help keep it that way

    Hi everyone!

I'm really inspired to get a spurt on and get decluttering having seen this thread. Want to read it all but my 18month old is climbing all over me so I've only managed the last coupla pages

I am DROWNING in stuff :( I have been buying kids clothes on Ebay from birth (I have 2 girls of 18months and 3 years) intending to sell them on again, and now they're growing so fast, I have a loft FULL of stuff which I daren't sell!

I've been from a size 8/10 to a size 16/18 and bounced about inbetween over the last 5 years, so you can imagine how much stuff I have pointlessly sat there. I just don't know where to start!

I'm worried about selling the kids stuff as there's so much to sort out, plus there's probably a few bits with stains on which I'm worried about slipping through the net and getting bad feedback for, I have no clue what to do with my clothes as they need washing/ironing really and I just don't get chance, esp as there's so much.

I just wish I could take it all to the charity shop to give me some sort of relief! But that's so not MSE, I know.

Plus we're skint, so the money would help a lot, if we made any!

If anyone can tell me how to eat this bloomin elephant, I would be very grateful. I think I'm secretly hoping that someone will say oh, take them to the charity shop/freecycle em and start over again from now onwards. But I know that's nonsensical when we're brassic.

It really is getting me down though :o

All advice would be very welcomed indeed. Then we have the other stuff in the loft and garage to sort...but it won't seem quite so bad once the size 8 pair of trousers have finally gone somewhere else (like I'm ever gonna get back into THOSE :p!).

    Thanks so much everyone
    Luce

ps is it worth listing a huge kids lot on Ebay and an adults lot, collection only for 99p do you think? Never tried but would love to hear others experiences of this.

In my experience I would just get it all down from the loft and spend the day/evening sorting it into sizes, then go to the bussiest car bot around and sell things for £1 each or 3 for £2 reduce as they day goes in.I did this on Sunday came back with £160 and nothing else,I did give the last bit of stuff away free!
