This thread helps a lot and I sometimes manage to do a bit. My OH has just retired and his being at home all day saying 'shall we have a go at tidying today' ? is driving me mad, as is his eager look as he surveys all my stuff, or his disappointed one when he sees I'm not going to do it. The more he nags the less I feel I can do anything at all. Today I realised it might be a good idea to involve him - does anyone have any ideas about how to use him productively rather than just getting nagged and feeling really down about it all ? I can make him take all stuff to charity shops for me and to the tip, but does anyone have any ideas about other stuff a not-very-handy bloke might do to HELP and not just make me feel even more guilty ? Also I am v scared of e bay, but have lots of stuff I could sell 'if only'.... is it easy really, any tips there too ? Thank you, nice people !
If ebay scares you it may be an idea not to think about it right now.. or have hubby do it.. it will give him something to occupy him and keep him from nagging you.. local courses in internet literacy are a fab idea.. local colleges and libraries often run them.. have him go check!!
Take it one box at a time.. and don't rush it.. you'll get through it.. you have a lifetime of memories in that 'clutter' don't throw it all away on a whim.
Sort through one box and get rid of all the 'rubbish'.. when you have done a few boxes you might be able to get rid of one box by spreading the remainder of its contents over a few others.. one less!
Give yourself little goals... eg.. get rid of one box a week.. or one a month..
When I get a package IN the house I fill the outer layer with things to get rid of.. then I have as much going out as came in.. in my head that does work!

morgan - pigpen's right.......small achievable goals will work best for you. They worked for me, at least for a while...........at a bit of a stand still now though.
pigpen - glad to see you're still hard at it...............lol I'm not I'm afraid........still waiting for OH to take tele's to the skip - spare bedroom is getting more cluttered by the day, what with christmas hoardings and 'stuff' I havent really delved into yet.
Oh well..........given time........

i managed to sort out a cupboard in my bedroom yesterday. It was so full of junk that everytime you opened the door things would fall out and you had to throw them back into the cupboard and slam the door shut quickly!!
Well now there are just coats and bags in there, a few pairs of shoes and a few craft bits for making cards, and some wrapping paper. I threw out loads of clothes, bags, craft bits that were just too scrappy to keep and crinkled up wrapping paper that was totally unfit to wrap presents!
Am off to the charity shop today with the bag load of stuff that wasn't bad enough to sling in the bin.
Another cupboard clear of rubbish!! YAY!!!! :TI'm so sorry if you were enjoying this thread and mine is the last post!!
