Dad just said that he hasn't seen mum yet tonight because she is having a BRAIN SCAN!!!!!! Why on earth would they be doing that?????????

Surely that is not normal procedure after a hip op?

Hopefully it is just a routine scan - thinking of you and your mum
Got news about my house, contractors will be finishing a week late :( They should have finished by the end of last week but won't be until end of this and I should have the keys by Monday :)
Now to go searching for what I need and get them delivered in the next few weeks

Yippee - you must be so pleased to find this out

Afternoon all. Just popping on quickly to say I'm alive and well as I haven't been posting for ages but have lurked occasionally. I'm sure I've been missed;):rotfl::rotfl:

Up to my eyes in shopping around for the best deals on kitchens, appliances, building materials etc so Mr T has had to take a back seat for a while.

I've had no time to go to Mr T but I think I might have got OH tuned in as they came back from Mr T with some simply add meals yesterday which we will be having for tea tonight:) (thanks to OP)

Hope everyone is ok although I haven't had time to catch up.

Did notice that there are lots of new names when I logged in....thought I'd got the wrong thread:rotfl::rotfl:

    See you later

Hi Artha - we were thinking of you last week when the SA glitch started - sounds like you have been busy

Rushed to Mr T - Got to the Sale Aisle - no gloves, scarves or hats to be seen :eek::eek:

Said to a SA that I saw some gloves on sunday & there are not here now.
Reply was they had to clear everything as it all scanned at 4p & RPD (return to depot I think) & they couldn't sell it at 4p :mad: so it's all in boxes out the back & going to local charity shops. At least it's not being destroyed :):):)

Thats what they said at mine.... while the staff all gathered round the boxes trying on hats n gloves deciding which ones to have ha :D scampered round the aisles and found a few that hadnt been culled :T bonus

jumblejack, I understand that this may sound really scary, but if your mum has been showing increased confusion they are only trying to find out why that is happening. A common cause for increased confusion are UTI's, which may be surprising to a lot of people. They can totally change someone's behaviour sometimes. It's really odd. But I'm sure that they'd have tested for that already, anyway, so scanning to make sure there aren't any problems is a good idea.

Hope everything goes well for your mum. Virtual hugs. :)

Great news Kadison, so pleased for you :j:j My cholesterol is normal but I have to be careful as there is a family history of raised cholesterol and premature coronary artery disease on my Dad's side.
Well done on your weight loss, you seem to have the will power and determination to reach your target weight...:):):)

Thanks guys! I'm very pleased :D

So pleased I went out and bought the iPad2 I've been coveting for a couple of months :rotfl:

BUT I was MSEish my approach.....Double CC points plus extra points for using my CCCC, applecare £69 (didn't want the T's 'alternative'), iPad £429 total £498, gave me 1000 cc points (he rounded it up for me :D), plus 124 for using CCCC, total 1124 = £33.72 in rewards - yeay!!!

Hi Artha. Just noticed your signature. Is this from Hectors House?.....If so, you are showing your age for posting it and I'm showing mine for knowing it ;):D

Yes it is. One of my favourites in my late teens (showing my age now:o) It was on just before the news if I remember. I've always felt a certain affiliation with Hector as our lives seem to have often taken the same path:rotfl:If it doesn't seem too snobby(:o) I did prefer the original French version in much the same way as Magic Roundabout.

Just glad that there's someone else that remembers Hector but you were probably a child fan:D rather than the cult following by people who should have outgrown it, like myself;)

Hi Mica. Was thinking about you when tidying the garage and came across the Karcher Jubilee PW that you put me onto at NA and still hasn't been unpacked yet:o. Noticed that Mr T has restocked for the new season with a version costing >£200 without the add ons.

    :T:T Well done You :D

    Interesting that 7-7½ is normal.
My Dr was convinced I was diabetic because for years I had been going to Dr about my on & off foot pain.
Wasted loads of time having to do fasting tests & 2 hour tests involving drinking sweet drinks & bloods taken before & after
The Dr was quite disappointed in telling me I'm not diabetic :(
My Hba1c is 5.8 yet they tell me this is too high. I've just Googled Hba1c (thank you Kadison) & it falls into 'excellent' ???

As you all know my foot pain was eventually found to be Gout - & could of been treated correctly years ago instead of trying to find diabetes  )

    RANT OVER :o:o:o

Now about these infernal itching lower legs.......... aaarrgghhh :o:o:o

I just have to clear this up, for a diabetic, 5.8% IS excellent control, however for a non-diabetic (from what I've found online) that reading is between the non-diabetes reading of 4-5.9% and the pre-diabetes reading of 5.7-6.4%, meaning that it's possible you are either normal or pre-diabetic.

He really should have gone into this in more detail and they should be keeping an eye on your HbA1c just in case, either way it's best to avoid sugary drinks as these are the WORST for blood sugar and spike it really high really quickly, though not so bad taken in small amounts with food.

I have to say though, if your glucose drink test was normal, you've probably got nothing to worry about but I would definitely double-check with your doctor as pre-diabetes needn't mean you get the full whack.

Unfortunately for me, no-one told me PCOS vastly increases your chances of diabetes and I went straight from normal to diabetic, no warning :( Oh well, should be able to get it to go into remission if I lose ALL my excess weight, I'm already seeing an improvement!
