  • Well done! I do that too.
Paid off mortgage nine years early in 2013. Now picking and choosing our work to fit in with the rest of our lives!
Still thrifty though, after all these years:D

Glad I'm not the only one!! I did feel sorry for the man because I was about a foot taller than him and was peering over his shoulder...everytime he put a sticker on, I picked it up!! After about 15 mins I had to stop (please bear in mind this is a tiny local garage and I think they were going to call the police on me for stalking!)

I do this as well. I have a freezer full of meat because of it.

I am a first time buyer and in the early stages of the house buying process. I have had my offer accepted so I'm just waiting on everything else going through now.

I always planned to overpay every month. My starting balance will be £71,250 and will be paid back over a 25 year term. I don't know how quickly I'll be able to pay this back but your thread has given me a lot more motivation.

Anything I have left at the end of the month will be going towards overpaying. I want to save as much as possible on interest over the years. I must start selling anything I don't want before I move and that can go into the pot too.

Maybe I'll start my own diary after completion. In the mean time I'll keep getting inspiration from you and other MFW's.
    Starting mortgage balance 22/04/2013 £71,250
    Overpayments to date £410
    Current mortgage balance £70,650

First house - how exciting!! Good luck on the completion. I'm glad my thread has helped! Just try and chuck in as much as poss and especially things that you wont miss - pay rises, refunds etc. Its amazing how quickly you'll knock that 25 yrs into shape!!
