Just mentioned on Tilly's thread my lastest shopping plan so thought I should post it here too as a reminder that I've done it.
Now planning meals every week to try and bring the cost down. £23 this week and about £30 I reckon for next week. I stick to my list unless there are essentials (such as loo roll!) on half price or less
I have also challenged OH (who does all the cooking) to plan a menu every other week and see who can bring in the cheapest week. Now bear in mind he is not the biggest advocate of my MF plans and any type of saving of the old cash - he is actually on board!! I think he likes the challenge and thinks because he is the one that cooks he can beat me! Last week he came in about £45 so I told him to rethink and he did get it down to £23. This is also stopping him popping out to the shops mid week and getting one carrier bag of stuff for £60!!
Anyone else have an OH like that?!!!!!Mortgage starting balance 2011 ... £170k today £1.5k

Mr T used to be like that, but he's pretty good unless he goes to C@stco.
It's really interesting how menu planning can control your £. It removes the temptation to throw things into the trolley I think.
Good luck with the competition.

Menu planned for next week. Actually using up stuff that I opened last week, used half and left rest in fridge. That stuff normally goes mouldy and gets binned so already feeling chuffed!!Mortgage starting balance 2011 ... £170k today £1.5k

Hey LauraJo - what an inspirational thread! Very well done, and I wish you the best of luck in your MF journey. I've also made a decision to start making some OP's - £50 paid this month so far. Small, but it's a start. I will be watching your thread with interest. How can I subscribe to your thread? Any ideas?
Update - just found out how to do it (would be good if I actually looked before asking the question).0 -
