  • I'm not sure Amani, in theory if the house is in your name then its yours and shouldn't be used to pay your oh debts - but the legality of it may be different. It might be worth starting a new thread and see if anyone else has the answer - I'm sure they will.

we were also thinking about an IVA as my hubby has just started work and we thought it might be better. what do you mean due to equity????????? we have equity in our house. what difference does that make?????????????

    THANKS

It just means that they could put a charge on the house, which meant that if we wanted to sell, they would take the equivalent equity out of the money left over - something we didn't want to do and it would just complicate things for us. Unlikely they would force a sale with us having two young chlidren.

IDAS - I don't even get to the password bit - the screen I get on the home page has a section for the login number, but then goes to a run time server problem page. V frustrating!

Ex the review is really simple. Just have a copy of the previous I & E that they will have given you to hand and mark on any increases or decreases ie insurance etc. Note any changes to income i.e. 10pence more per week on child benefit etc then when they call tell them you are using the previous I & E which they really appreciate as it makes their life easier and go down the list telling them of any changes. There usually are some. We were able to increase our payments by £15 last October. They then resend you a copy of your I & E showing both the old and new outgoings. If you are happy with it and make no further changes you let them know and they then update all your creditors. Occassionally get a couple of calls from creditors around this time offering F&F's but just ignore them. Most creditors then send a letter saying they have accepted the agreement again. Some just don't bother getting in touch. If you are able to increase the payment they don't usually take it for at least another month though.

tHANKS IDAAS It was just a thought thats all, will stick with the DMP at the moment.

What happened was we had applied to CCCs for a DMP as you can see we are only in the first stages. Then this job came out of the blue and hubby got it, after been on jobseekers for 2yrs. We wont get paid for a month yet and have not made any payments on the DMP yet. So I feel a bit mixed up at the mo, dont like been out of control.

If it were not for this site i would have carried on struggling paying the minimum payment every month, and not getting anywhere. but now I feel a lot better knowing I can pay my debts in 7yrs 5months about.

This thread is brilliant I feel I can log on every day and get support from all You lot A BIG THANK-YOU TO YOU ALL
  • thanks to all for the welcome and very proud to be no.50 in the gang.
when i sent off my template letters to my 13(!!!)creditors, i wrote on the bottom of all the letters not to phone and all corresponce was to be in writing for my records and with most of them i attached a token cheque.then i knew they had got the letters cos they cashed the cheque, so i have only had a few phone calls.
makes it easier to pay one payment to cccs for them all.did my own years back and they always gave me a really funny look in bank when i went in with loads of slips.also saves phoning 0870 nos. wanting more slips cos it gives them a chance to grill you for more dosh.
my dane is named charlie and he really is a proper one(charlie, that is!).
weighs about 15 stones(i know!).to say hes a large dog he doesnt really cost alot to feed and the other benefit is we never have to throw any leftovers away as he seems to eat anything.
wish in hindsight i had given all creditors only my mobile no. then i just wouldnt answer it.
hope the template tip and the mobile no. tip are of use to anyone just starting their dmp.regards, ilgd
